Conant runs past Somersworth and into the Final Four, 75-51.

Trailing 11-10 late in the 1st quarter, the 2nd seeded Conant Orioles used a 19-0 run to take command and never looked back as they advanced to the Division 3 semifinals with an impressive 75-51 victory over 7th seed Somersworth in Jaffrey on Saturday night.

The Orioles hit 10 3 pointers in the game, 7 of which came in the 1st half that ended with Conant up by 20, 38-18.  Here's the video highlights of the game along with post game reaction from Orioles players Devin Springfield, Rob O'Brien and Eli Hodgson, plus conversations with Conant coach Eric Saucier and Somersworth coach Lorne Lucas.

Is it just me or did the Conant kids travel almost every time they pump faked and drove, and you cant take your step without a dribble thats a travel lol. Not saying it would make a difference they looked better than Somersworth, but that was only highlights and I counted like 6 times, the refs in NH are reall bad just saying, compared to Mass anyway..

Conant is a fun team to watch. I saw them in summer league and they played everyone tough. Great program and I love their run and press approach. I wish more teams in NH committed to that style of play. As for the travelling violations, I saw a couple but nothing out of the ordinary. Hand checking, palming and travelling are almost never called anymore. Getting a first step without releasing the ball on a dribble is a huge advantage and should be called more frequently. The hand checking is outrageous and has been a problem for years. It neutralizes the skilled players and keeps scoring way down.

I have often been very critical about the refs in NH but after moving south I realize it is nation wide and even bad at the college level also. Just something players have got to learn to play through. As far as this game goes it seems the spot up jumpers were more of an issue than the missed travel calls. On a side note what Conant does as a town and what coach Soucey is doing with the players is a great thing.
