As the final buzzer sounded in Souhegan's 53-45 win over Lebanon the entire Sabers team joined their coaching staff & student body in celebration near their bench as their point guard & best player headed in the opposite direction. Brandon Len knows all too much about heartache these days and as the game came to a close he found fellow all-state guard David Hampton of Lebanon, who he knew was hurting. Len wrapped his arms around one of Lebanon's all-time leading scorers before joining the euphoria going on behind him. Only ten days after the loss of their former teammate Tony Barksdale to a tragic death the Souhegan Sabers are taking their fans on a pretty special trip, a trip that ends one way or another against the only unbeaten team in New Hampshire Saturday afternoon. Lebanon fell behind Souhegan 9-0 in the first five minutes of the game and although they quickly gained their footing they could never completely overcome that early deficit. A Kalin Sau corner three tied the game up late but Souhegan's Zack Simmonds saved his only three points of the night for the biggest moment as he buried a corner trey and then watched as teammate Jake Kennedy hit a fall-away in the lane on the following possession for a lead in the final minutes that the Sabers would not relinquish. Pete Tarrier & Jon Kesty bring you the play by play of all the action plus post-game interviews with Souhegan head coach Mike Heaney, Jake Kennedy, Brandon Len & Zack Simmonds.
