Hopkinton's dramatic win sends them to the semifinals

Hopkinton's Liam McNicholas is starting to realize he has a flair for the dramatic.

Three months after hitting the game winning three pointer to knock defending Division III basketball
champion Somersworth out of the tournament McNicholas came through again when the season was moments from being over. Down to their last out a bases loaded double into left field scored three runs and lifted the top seed in Division III from a 6-4 deficit against a very game Franklin ball club.

In the bottom of the 7th, McManus led off with a ground out but Jake Nelson then singled up the middle to get the rally started. After Matt McCormack struck out on a high fastball Sam Bonifant kept the Hawks alive with an infield single and Jay White walked to load the bases. This brought up McNicholas who hit a 2-0 pitch into the left centerfield gap to score all three runs.

Hopkinton starter Jay White pitched 6 strong innings and Sam McManus came on to record the win as The Hawks 7-6 come from behind win sends them to the Division III semifinals to face Conant Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
