Notre Dame needs to know their role...

IT'S BACK! The most electrifying listicle in sports today, Justin McIsaac’s Top 10! We've streamlined the voting process this year, only Justin McIsaacs can vote in the Top 10. Unless I just completely made that up. Anyway...

10. THE PERSON WITH THE THE NOISEMAKER STANDING (WHAT SOUNDED LIKE) DIRECTLY NEXT TO PETE TARRIER

Maybe Pete can tell us who this was, but there’s someone in his general vicinity with what sounds like one of those Olde Tyme noisemakers that you twirl around. And they Did. Not. Stop. Using it. Being high above NCAA fields in booths may have spoiled me, but I would’ve given that dude a Stone Cold Stunner after about 3 minutes of that. Pete’s a more patient person than I am.

9. PINKERTON CRASHES THE DANCE ONLY NOT REALLY BECAUSE THEY ARE PINKERTON

It looked like we were on a collision course for a Salem v Winnacunnet final in Durham, but a few things happened along the way – Salem lost their best offensive weapon (to a self inflicted wound, no less), and the Blue Devils had to face a white-hot Pinkerton squad.

Last season when teams were running up the score on Pinkerton, I warned them – get your licks in while you can, because Pinkerton football does not stay down for very long. After racking up close to 300 yards on the ground against a good Salem defense, the Astros are back in a big way.

8. NOTRE DAME STINKS! THEY STINK!

They probably don’t stink “per se”, but after hearing our fearless leader Dave Haley go on and on and on and on and on and on about how his beloved Fighting Irish were going to beat Miami by 17 points all week, and then seeing Miami absolutely drop a piano on ND for 4 quarters Saturday night, I feel we’re entitled to take some schadenfreude out of this whole deal.

(Don’t worry Dave, ESPN will somehow gimmick the committee to keep ND in the playoff, since they need SOMEONE to watch these games on New Years Eve)

7. PLYMOUTH IS ONCE AGAIN #ALLBUSINESS AFTER A PLAYOFF WIN

Any time you can hold Saint Thomas to 7 points, I feel like that’s something to get crazy about, but Plymouth is making like an NHL team that’s won the conference finals and won’t touch the Prince Of Whales trophy-  they know that the field to get crazy on has 12,000 seats and a giant wildcat in the middle.  A great defensive performance from the Bobcats sends them back to Durham for a title rematch with the Bow Falcons. IF they win, and it’s again Dave that interviews them, they should no-sell the win once more! (Note- no chance Pete lets Dave get near Plymouth if they should win, Pete does the “We Undefeated” dance and NOBODY gets in the way!)

6. MOOKIE BETTS BOWLED A 300 AT THE WORLD SERIES OF BOWLING

Mookie Betts is a former GA High School State Bowling Champion, so it ain’t exactly a shock that he can still light it up on the lanes, but throwing a perfect game is a big damn deal! Bowling is one of the few sports I wasn’t horrible at, and my high game is 245. Here’s the final few frames if you want to sit in awe of perfection: https://t.co/Km1NajjWtL

5. KEEGAN MILLS PUT THE TEAM ON HIS BACK

255 yards against the defending champs to lead Campbell into Durham is a heck of a performance. Campbell has been the favorite since about 2 minutes into the first quarter back on September the 2nd, and they now have a chance to hang  another banner if they can beat a game Monadnock Husky team that probably still feels the sting of being kept from Durham last year.

4. SPEAKING OF D3, PETE TARRIER IS ASSURED OF AT LEAST ONE UNDEFEATED DANCE

Because Monadnock is headed to Durham after a thumping of Newport on Saturday. Junius Adams scored twice for the Huskies, and a year after a dubbed the D3 tourney “The Mondanock Invitational”, Misha Cook’s Alma Mater will get to play at Wildcat Stadium for all the marbles. Unbeaten Campbell vs Unbeaten Monadnock means Pete gets to dance for sure!

3. IT’S GOING TO BE WEIRD NOT BEING IN DURHAM FOR THE FINALS

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade in the UNH gig for anything, but it will be a bit odd knowing that the HS Championship games will be going on while I’m hanging out in Albany. I think Bob Lipman, Mike Murphy and I are carpooling after UNH Hockey Friday, so maybe if UNH plays a quick game, (1 pm kickoff), and Bob really puts the pedal to the metal (it’s a 3.5 hour drive back), MAYBE I could get there for the 2nd half of D1? (Maybe – we’ll see!)

2. BOW KNOWS

How to get to Durham. A 2nd straight week of going on the road and beating a higher seed who hadn’t lost a game this season, and the Falcons are headed back to UNH to try and get revenge on Plymouth after last year’s instant classic. Who’s going to bet against Bow pulling off the Upset Trifecta? (Probably me, since Plymouth is really good, but don’t be shocked if the Falcons pull it off!)

1. BEACH BOYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSS

It’s tough to beat any team twice. It’s REALLY tough to beat a team as good as Goffstown twice, but the Winnacunnet D put in what was probably their best effort of the year, in a season where they’ve been dominant, in beating the Grizzlies 21-6.  The Warriors have a chance to snag their 1st D1 Football Title, but it’s Pinkerton that stands in their way, and Pinkerton will be ready. Should be a great one next week!

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: That poor guy that Osweiler smoked with the errant pass on the sidelines, UNH should clinch a playoff berth with a win at Albany, I hate that “LIGHTNING AND THE THUNDER” song on the Microsoft commercial, Screw this cold weather
