Milford finished the 2010-11 season as the only undefeated team in the state and the first back to back champions in the division since Souhegan in 2004. They had a target on their back every step of the way and even with the loss of one of their core players (Scott McCallum) to a pre-season knee injury it never slowed them down. They will go down as one of the best teams in division history. The best team in the state? That's for you to decide because we'll never know.
Here are the top performers in Division II
NHsportspage First Team
Stephen Spirou Pelham
Mike O'Loughlin Milford
Jamie Holder Milford
Mike Mitchell Milford
Sam Carney Hanover
Comments: Three players from the same team? Yes, when it is this team. You can't call Mitchell the best point guard in the state and then not put him on first team because two of his teammates are already there. He's a top five performer, he won two titles in a row and hasn't lost since last January. End of story.
Second Team
Kmahl Walker Portsmouth
Devin Gilligan Souhegan
Patrick Welch Pembroke Academy
Rene Maher Pembroke Academy
Seth Cordts Souhegan
Third Team
Alex Wageling Goffstown
Matt Persons Pembroke Academy
Chris Walker Oyster River
Kyle DiCesare Portsmouth
Skyler Mitchell Coe-Brown
Player of the Year: Mike O'Loughlin of Milford
If you want to argue that it should be Spirou I wouldn't disagree with you, they are both equally as valuable. O'Loughlin made all the biggest plays for the Spartans when they needed a bucket or a stop and he's the best player on a team that has won 40 games in a row. Good enough for me.
Runner-up: Stephen Spirou of Pelham
Coach of the Year: Matt Regan of Pelham
He took a very good look at his basketball team last summer, after Mike Lombard his starting center had left for prep school, and transformed this into a run & gun outfit. A run & gun outfit that played very good defense and also won some very important games down the stretch when their best player was out with an ankle injury.
Runner-ups: Matt Alosa of Pembroke, Tim Winslow of Hanover and Dan Murray of Milford.
