Monadnock Boys Basketball 58

Inter-Lakes Boys Basketball 59

 (13) Monadnock at (4) Inter-Lakes

This is an interesting match-up and as far as draws go it won’t be an easy one for Inter-Lakes.

Mike Rathgeber’s Lakers went 15-3 by getting the ball down low to all-state forward Zach Swanson (23.2) and using younger brother Eli Swanson (12.4) to attack the glass from the weak side. Ryan Kelly is very good with his post entry passes and Davis Jollimore handles the ball well at the top the key. It’s been a strong formula and one that led them to wins over Belmont, Somersworth and Gilford.

Here’s where it gets difficult for Inter-Lakes; Monadnock is maybe the most physical team in Division III. They struggle with speed but they are very comfortable trading blows in the paint. Jake Wood will match-up down low with Swanson and Joe Minson (17.4 ppg and of ‘Why aren’t you covering Joe Minson!!??’ fame) is going to be a very tough match-up for that Inter-Lakes zone defense.

The Huskies are going to need scoring from J.T Cloutier and they will have to at least come away even on the boards against the Swanson brothers but this is a game that might be closer than you expect. Jim Hill’s team played a very tough schedule and they take pride in their toughness as a group.

Berlin went to Meredith and beat the Lakers using that exact same style. Monadnock looks for the upset tomorrow night.
