Gilford Boys Basketball 45

Berlin Boys Basketball 60

 (10) Gilford at (7) Berlin

Box Score of the first meeting

I’d be shocked if this one didn’t come down to the final possession again.

Both teams are better suited for a half-court game, so there shouldn’t be one team trying to push the pace on the other. Each team is led by a very solid point guard who doesn’t make many mistakes, a pair of big men capable of a breakout game and two scorers who consistently get their numbers.

There are good wins and bad losses on both resumes and the head coaches have been involved in plenty of Final Fours.

Can Brandon Lemay of Gilford hold Berlin point guard Evan Arsenault (13.8) in check? Who wins the big man battle between Joey Fodor (10.2) and Ethan Carrier (11.1)? Do either Seth Balderrama (14.1) or Mason McGonagle (15.5) have a performance that pushes their team over the top?

This one comes down to execution; foul shooting, turnovers and converting easy buckets (that’s a professional way of saying not blowing lay-ups).

Both teams can win this game and the winner will test Hopkinton in the next round because both teams have the size and physicality to do it.
