Franklin Boys Basketball 44

Hopkinton Boys Basketball 49

(15) Franklin at (2) Hopkinton (played at Hillsboro-Deering high school)

Franklin is a dangerous low seed in the right bracket because of Jayden Torres (17.7) and his ability to create his own shot off the dribble plus the ability of Matt Hennessy (10.1) to knockdown shots (remember his big first half against Kearsarge in the quarterfinals a year ago?) and Corey Nelson finding an ability to score.

Franklin has played some very tough teams and even though they lack any size on the low block they’ve beaten Monadnock on the road and gave Gilford, Inter-Lakes, Stevens & Somersworth all they could handle. This is a well-coached team, by Mike Donnell, and they play hard.

The bad news is this is a terrible match-up for them. Hopkinton is the biggest team in the division, they have a legitimate rim protector in Kevin Newton-Delgado and enough strength down low to overwhelm Franklin on the glass. Hopkinton will be bigger than Franklin at every position on the floor.

Franklin is going to have to turn this into a track meet and even then Hopkinton is well equipped behind point guard Zach Signor and shooting guard Cam Cyr (12.1).
