Monadnock captured it's second Division 3 Championship in three years on Saturday defeating Fall Mountain 51-44. Fall Mountain came to play and led for almost the entirety of the game. Senior Zoe Utton of Fall Mountain led the charge taking the ball fearlessly to the basket. Utton was the game high scorer with 21 points.
Monadnock chipped away at the lead at the end of the third and into the fourth quarter and tied the game with a little over 2 minutes to go. Huskies Gwen Simpson was a big reason for that with 11 of her 19 points in the final quarter. Monadnock tightened up the defense and hit some big free throws to take the lead and secure the win.
Caitlyn Boucher of Monadnock had 18 points and freshman Grace Furze added 8 points off the bench. Utton also had 14 rebound on the night and teammate Avery Stewart had 12 points for the Wildcats.
