The only Power Poll that really matters is what's inside McIsaac's head

It's back! The best listicle in NH, the McIsaac Top 10! And I'd like to announce that this year, Jen Chick-Ruth is a Top 10 voter!

(46 minutes later)

Oops, Austin Grass had a giant screaming fit about that decision, so Jen's out. I guess she had a slice of pizza in a media press box once, and THAT CAN'T BE ALLOWED.

The Top 10 is brought to you by TJ’S in Portsmouth! My absolute favorite spot in Portsmouth to catch a game. Tell Bethany that McIsaac sent you.

10. THISCLOSE TO AN UPSET WIN

UNH Football (who plays in FCS, or 1-AA as literally everyone calls it) ended up losing to FBS (Or 1-A as literally everyone calls it) Florida International 30-17, but the final score doesn’t tell the whole tale. UNH lead 17-13 in the 3rd and it looked like the Cats were in business after an apparent FIU fumble, but a phantom penalty gave the ball back to the Panthers, they scored and then scored once more on a shanked punt, and a 30-17 loss goes in the books. Overall I was excited by UNH’s effort and play. Oh, and by the way….

9. GET USED TO HEARING THE NAME MAX BROSMER

The baby-faced True Freshman QB was throwing absolute laser beams in a Miami monsoon Saturday night, including an 85 yard TD pass. Last night was his first start for the ‘Cats, and unless someone clones Tom Brady and gives him a scholarship, he’ll be starting until 2023. The kid can flat out ball.

8. AFTER BEING IN A LOCAL ESTABLISHMENT IN FLORIDA….

… suddenly all the “Florida Man” stories you hear about that somehow involve bath salts and SWAT teams and the like make a whole lot more sense. Every person that entered the local tavern looked they had just arrived from a broadcast of Live PD, and were on their way to another one shortly. In other words, I loved it.

7. MOVES LIKE JAGGER

Jagger Lovely might have the best name in NH HS Football, and he had the best play of the game in Newport’s upset win over rival Stevens- Jagger brought a 40 yard pick 6 to the house to give Newport a 19-18 lead they wouldn’t relinquish, winning 26-18 and stunning the Cardinals. I am accepting submissions for a name better than Jagger Lovely, but I don’t think I’m gonna get one that’s better.

6. WHEN A 43-0 WIN FEELS DISAPPOINTING

The Pats stomped on the Dolphins so hard that PETA was called in on Sunday, and it still felt like Miami got off easy. 13-0 at the half and the Phins had run about 7 plays on offense, this felt like a preseason game for the Pats, just trying to get AB involved in live game action. I mean, kinda live game action. I’m not sure Miami would win the ACC this year.

5. MY RAYMOND RAMS ARE 2-0

They’re not YOUR Raymond Rams, they’re MINE. And we’re 2-0 after a big 47-22 W over Newfound on Saturday. Kymanii Clarke threw for 2 TDs and ran 2 kicks back for scores in the win, and now the entire economy of Raymond is based off of Kymanii Clarke TDs. YOU’RE NEXT, BISHOP BRADY!

4. SOME REVENGE FOR THE SAINTS

A 13-12 win for Saint Thomas that saw the Saints get down 12-0 and get the winning TD with 2:22 left on the clock as Cam Paquette threw a TD pass to Adam Stewart, with a successful PAT (which is no gimme at the HS level). We’re used to seeing STA put up video game numbers but when you’re playing a good team like Alvirne, you just need one more point than the opposition, and that’s what the Saints got.

3. MERRIMACK VALLEY SENDING A MESSAGE TO DAVE HALEY

A 20-17 win over Gilford/Belmont after Dave made the Golden Raider Eagles (is that the mascot now?) sound like the 2018 Pats is a stunner on the road, and a great win for the Pride. I asked Dave to comment but he’s busy calling the NHIAA to try and get this result overturned.

2. THE GRIZZLIES GRIND ONE OUT

18-14 over Windham, Mt Jaguar is a TOUGH place to go win, and Goffstown did it with defense, holding the Jags scoreless in the 2nd half to stay unbeaten. Not a whole lot of time to celebrate for the Grizz though, as Bedford looms this week.

1. LONDONDERRY ON TOP OF D1

Right now it looks like Londonderry’s world with the rest of D1 just living in it as the Lancers put up 28 in the 2nd half en route to a 42-26 win over Salem in Haverill Mass on Saturday. It’s tough to get more efficient than QB Jake McEachern, who completed 3 passes for 3 TD’s and 185 yards. That’s like the opposite of whatever the Miami Dolphins are doing.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: 4 TD passes for Pelham’s Ian Hoey, Portsmouth with a big win, Jacksonville’s backup QB dresses even dumber than Cam Newton,  Lebanon wins the big D3 showdown over Trinity
