Five new candidates are up for the first poll of 2020

This week the season finally gets into full swing and that means we are getting you coverage every week until the season ends in March.

This week also marks our first week Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Basketball Player of the Week Poll.

After each week's slate of games, candidates for the award will be posted. Voting will go until Wednesday at midnight and the winner will be named on Thursday.

Each winner will receive an NHSportspage t-shirt and a Buffalo Wild Wings gift certificate!

 Here are this week's candidates...

Maurgan McGrath of Hopkinton: The Hawks prevailed against a tough Inter-Lakes squad 43-31 and McGrath was a key component in the victory, scoring a game-high 26 points in the win.

Brianna Filion of Newmarket: The Mules pulled off a tremendous 42-35 victory over previously unbeaten Hinsdale and junior Brianna Filion led the charge with 18 points to get Newmarket to 5-1 on the season.

Jailyn Johnson of Manchester Central:  With Emily Greenwood sidelined with injury, the Little Green needed a spark and Jailyn Johnson provided just that with 21 points in a 54-42 victory over Dover.

Anna Stenger of John Stark: Anna Stenger continues to have a strong start to the season as she chipped in a 17 point and 8 rebound performance in a great 64-56 win over Sanborn.

Liz Cote of Kennett: The Eagles pulled out a nailbiter against Pembroke and senior guard Liz Cote was huge for the Eagles, tallying a game-high 17 points in the 40-37 victory.
