Coach Danny Bryson and his young Manchester Memorial Crusaders wanted to show they were better than their back of the pack pre-season ranking and a subsequent 17 point opening night loss at Manchester Central.
Well on Friday night at Memorial High School they did just that with a 59-56 win over that same Little Green team. Senior big man Deng Luwal scored a game high 16 points to lead the Crusaders, but it was their smallest player Cam Pollock's driving layup in the final seconds that snapped a 56 all tie and put Memorial up for good. Baril Mawo of Central scored a team-high 14 points. Jabari Dowell added 12.
Here's the video highlights of the game filmed and edited by NHSportspage videographer Ian Melewski and featuring play-by-play from Pete Tarrier and a post-game interview with the entire Crusaders team.
Our coverage of the game is brought to you by Bunny's Superette, the legendary neighborhood supermarket in North Manchester!
