Gilford and Hopkinton went back and forth all afternoon, but it was the Golden Eagles who pulled ahead late and hung on for a 41-40 victory.
Hopkinton came out of the gates fast and Brendan Elrick was a force to be reckoned with down low. The Hawks held Gilford to just one field goal in the opening frame and held a 10-4 lead.
The second quarter was much of the same and Hopkinton headed into the half with a 21-13 lead.
5 quick points from Quinn Whitehead Hopkinton was countered by a 14-0 Gilford run behind huge three-pointers from freshman Isaiah Reese.
The two teams were knotted at 30 apiece heading into the 4th quarter and the back and forth play continued throughout.
The heroics of Riley Marsh and Jalen Reese allowed the Golden Eagles to hold on and be crowned Division III champions.
