The Tide finish out the regular season with a win over the Blackbirds

The Concord Crimson Tide (13-5) and the Keene Black Birds (9-7) fought today in what appeared to be a pitching battle, until Concord broke away with a monster 5th inning. They scored all 4 runs in that inning, and although Keene was able to plate a runner in the 6th, they were not able to stage a comeback eventually losing 4-1.

The starters for the game, Concords Jonah Wachter (3 2/3 IP, 5 K) and Keene's Peter Haas (3 IP, 3 K) both put on pitching clinics, allowing no runs while pitching.

Batting wise for Concord Ryan Philbrick lead the way, getting on base all 4 at-bats with 2 walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a single. Tyler Wright and Jonah Wachter also recorded 2 big back-to-back doubles in the 5 inning, to get home 2 extra insurance runs.

Keene was led by Jared Schmitt, who got on base all 3 appearances with 2 singles. He also scored the only run with his hard-hit ground ball to short. That scored Zachary Mooers who in addition to being the only run for the Black Birds, had an incredible fielding game as well.
