Division I

Division I Standings and Scoring Leaders

Gold Level Coaches/Programs: Kevin Gibbs of Bedford, Greg Cotreau of Manchester Memorial, Scott Blake of Spaulding, Rick Oliver of Salem, and Rob Darrell and Freddy Rivera of Concord

1. Bishop Guertin: The title rematch is finally here on Friday night. The Bedford gym should be packed, and we will be there. A hostile environment won't faze this group. They have taken care of business up to this point and have the pieces that can match Bedford possession for possession. Brooke Paquette tends to show up in the big moments, so a big performance in this game should come as no surprise.

2. Bedford: This will be the Bulldogs' biggest test of the season, and it may be more of a mental hurdle early on. This is the matchup they have wanted since they drove away from UNH last March, so staying composed and staying in the moment will be key. This could come down to the last few possessions, so having a player like Kate Allard in rhythm early will be key. The matchup we have been waiting to see for over two years now will be Lana McCarthy and Meghan Stack. This one should be fun.

3. Portsmouth: Portsmouth has won 12 in a row and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Avery Romps has been very productive on both sides of the court and Maddie MacCannell and Margaret Montplaisir have both had their fair share of games where they have shined offensively

4. Goffstown: The Grizzlies make the jump up to four this week after a solid bounce-back victory over Dover on Monday. This group has proven they can compete with the elite in this division. They held a lead at the half against Bedford and were a fourth-quarter surge from Portsmouth away from possibly winning that game over the Clippers. Ava Winterburn continues to be tremendous for this group, and now a big tilt with Pinkerton is on the radar next Tuesday.

5. Pinkerton: A 28-11 second quarter was the difference maker in the Astros' 78-52 loss to Bedford. They get a chance to clean things up against Trinity and then have a big test with Goffstown next week. Ava Winterburn is a focus for every defense, but they must try and take shots away from her on Tuesday. Liz Lavoie is a player that can match her shot for shot, but the Pinkerton defense once again will be the big key in a potential victory.

6. Exeter: The Blue Hawks narrowly escaped a sneaky Spaulding team on the road 38-37 and have won two in a row. Emma Smith continues to be rock solid for this group and has come up big down the stretch in close games. Memorial comes to town Friday in what could be an interesting game.

7. Windham: Windham is playing their best basketball at just the right time. Three straight wins and holding their opponents to just 37.3 ppg is a big plus for a Jaguars team who has started to figure things out. Their offense comes from their strong play on the defensive end, and that will be a focus moving forward as we get closer to the end of the regular season.

8. Manchester Memorial: Madison Pepra-Omani has really created a good chunk of this team's offense this season, and did just that on Tuesday night against Concord. Payton Moran was very impressive when she took the ball to the hoop with aggression, that is something this team will need the rest of the way. Missed layups and turnovers were key in their loss to the Crimson Tide. That loss stings and hurts them seeding-wise, but they still have time to turn things around.

9. Concord: Four straight wins and four straight road wins for the Crimson Tide who have found their identity. They have a lot of athletic defenders who do a good job of communicating and keeping teams out of the paint. Delaney Duford is a calming presence for this team and is a great two-way player. Sofia Payne impressed me against a good forward in Nyasia McKelvey on Tuesday and Aidah Smalley and Whitney Vaillant do a nice job of getting the shots they want on the perimeter.

10. Dover: It has been tough sledding as of late for the Green Wave but a bounce-back win on Tuesday against an Alvirne team who has been playing well as of late is hopefully a sign of things to come. A trip to Portsmouth lies ahead and needs to be a game that they put their best foot forward. Any scoring this team can get outside of Lilly Nossiff would be a huge plus and build some confidence as the playoffs near.

Division II

Division II Standings and Scoring Leaders

Gold Level Coaches/Programs: Phil Davis of Bow, Dan O'Rourke of Hanover, Courtney Cheetham of Derryfield, Brian Gray of Sanborn, Larry Meader of Kennett, Bob McNutt of Merrimack Valley, and Bob Murphy of Hollis-Brookline

Bracketology: 1) Bow  2) Kennett  3) Pelham 4) Milford 5) Hanover  6) Laconia  7) Pembroke 8) Hollis-Brookline 9) Oyster River 10) Merrimack Valley  11) Derryfield 12) John Stark 13) Bishop Brady 14) Plymouth

  • Merrimack Valley may be the team no one wants to see in the first round. Bob McNutt can gameplan with the best of them and will be ready for any opponent they have to face on the road
  • Milford's win over Hanover could have locked them up the four seed if they take care of business the rest of the way
  • Laconia needed a big win and they got it over Pelham last night. A huge momentum boost for a team who hopes to make a deep run
  • A rematch of Hollis-Brookline and Oyster River could be fun. Their first meeting ended in a half-court buzzer-beater. Could that happen again? Who knows, but Hollis-Brookline certainly has looked better since that loss
  • Bishop Brady can really score, and if they can get someone into a shootout they could be a sneaky quarterfinal pick
