Friday will wrap up the regular season around the Granite State and then it will be on to a very fun two-week playoff  odyssey that will end on the big floor at UNH.

Today we will do a bracketology breakdown of how Division I could shake out to come Friday night.

We will have a Division II podcast next week talking about all the preliminary matchups once the bracket is released.

Today's column is brought to you by our friends and partners at York County Community College!

Division I Bracketology:

1. Bishop Guertin

2. Portsmouth

3. Bedford

4. Goffstown

5. Pinkerton

6. Exeter

7. Windham

8. Dover

9. Concord

10. Londonderry

11. Manchester Memorial

12. Spaulding

13. Salem

14. Alvirne

Notes:

  • The biggest game seeding-wise left is Memorial at Londonderry. I give the Lancers the edge here since they are at home but this is 100% a toss-up game and that 10-11 spot could be flipped.
  • If Memorial is to win, things could get interesting with the Crusaders, Concord, and Dover all at 10-8. Memorial beat Dover and lost to Concord, Concord beat Memorial and lost to Dover, and Dover beat Concord and lost to Memorial. A fun three-way tiebreaker could play out if that is the case.
  • If it is up to wins against tournament teams, Dover has four, Concord has three, and Memorial would have three after a win over Londonderry. So if that is how it plays out with all of them at 10-8, Dover would be 8th, Concord 9th since they also own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Memorial, and the Crusaders finish in 10th
  • If Londonderry is to lose, they would fall all the way to 12th and Spaulding would jump to 11th as Londonderry would only have two wins against playoff teams compared to Spaulding's four
  • Apologies if you don't get that, I got lost a bit as well, it was a lot of word vomit but trust me it helped a bit...
  • Spaulding, Alvirne, and Salem all sit at 8-9 heading into Friday. Spaulding takes on Manchester Central, Alvirne gets Goffstown at home, and Salem travels to Bedford. Based on records of opponents, I have Spaulding winning on Friday and earning the 12-seed and Alvirne and Salem dropping their last games of the regular season.
  • Salem owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Alvirne so that gives the Blue Devils the 13-seed and Alvirne gets the last spot at 14
  • I expect an upset here or there in the first round as the middle of the pack in Division I has been as competitive as we have seen in a while.
