The Con Val Cougars opened their season with an impressive three-set victory over perennial playoff contender Gilford in front of their home crowd

While both teams matched up well on paper, ConVal’s aggressiveness from the service line and relentless offensive pressure proved to be the difference. Gilford had strong moments—especially from Darby Hughes and Avery Pickowicz—but struggled with serve receive and couldn’t find the momentum to take a set. For the Cougars, it was a true team win with every player contributing, but standouts Zadie Marshall, Ivy Armstrong-McEvoy, and Piper Bernier were especially dialed in.

This one felt less like Week 2 and more like late October.
