Thursday night in Wolfeboro had that unmistakable big-match feel — a packed gym and two of Division II’s best trading punches from the opening serve. Somersworth and Kingswood met earlier this season in a five-set battle. This time, the Hilltoppers needed only four, taking the rematch 3–1 in front of a fired-up Dig Pink crowd.
Kingswood came in on a three-match win streak and looked ready to make it four. The Knights played fearless volleyball — pin hitters Opal Grupp, Addy Arsenault, and Alexis MacBrien kept swinging, and setter Caelynn Blattenberger gave them plenty to work with. When Kingswood found their rhythm, they were relentless, extending rallies and forcing Somersworth to earn every point.
But Somersworth knows how to absorb pressure and make it work in their favor. Savanna Comeau and Emily Runions powered the attack on the outside, Paige Demers was a difference-maker at the net, and the Hilltoppers’ timing and discipline carried them through the tough stretches. Every time Kingswood made a push, Somersworth answered with something sharper — a big swing, a key dig, a smarter play.
It wasn’t about dominance so much as it was control. Somersworth dictated the pace, trusted the work they’ve put in, and walked out of Wolfeboro with another win that said plenty without needing to say a word.
