It was a battle between two teams in our preseason top ten on Friday night as Woodsville made the long journey to Newmarket, with both teams looking to remain undefeated early in the season.
It was a close first half, with the Mules taking a 19-12 lead into halftime; however, a strong third quarter from Kiara Rugora helped Newmarket pull away as they ultimately secured a 44-26 win.
Rugora led the way for Newmarket with 18 points. Amaya Beckles added 10 points, with Lydia Edgerly adding five points as well in the effort.
Makayla Walker was the top scorer for the Engineers with 18 points. Katie Houston chipped in five points, with Morgan Crocker adding the other three points for Woodsville.
