The Astro's got surprised Friday night...

Everyone loves Power Polls - no matter how silly the Rankings are. Remember when Winnacunnet beat Exeter, and was somehow ranked beneath them? HA! Anyway, everyone knows that the ONLY Power Poll that matters belongs to WTSN's Justin McIsaac....

10. FOOTBALLFOOTBALLFOOTBALLFOOTBALL

It seems like 8 years since Beyonce's posterior caused a power outage in New Orleans, doesn't it? NHIAA Football and the NFL kicking off on the same weekend was better than 7 X-mas's and 5 Fourth of July's combined. Or something. WELCOME BACK, IGNORING MY FAMILY ALL WEEKEND!

9. #UPSETALERT

Hmmmm let's see - Keene over North (I picked that one!)? Monadnock HUGE over Souhegan?  Bedford over Pinkerton?  Concord over Central? Winnacunnet over BG (I got that one too!)? It was a crazy opening weekend, and the #UpsetAlert hashtag was going nuts Friday and Saturday.

8. DON'T TALK TO DAVE ABOUT MICHIGAN-ND

I crashed early Saturday night suffering through a cold, so I missed ND at the Big House, but woke up to 38 texts in a group message with our Fearless Leader Haley and Eliot Bless, of which NONE of Haley's messages are fit for print here.  Evidently the refs were less than stellar?

7. EPPING-NEWMARKET WINS THE HYPHEN BOWL

I feel like a big dash trophy should be given out to the winner of each year's contest between Epping-Newmarket and Farmington-Nute . It'd be better than the stupid Snoopy trophy that the Jets and Giants play for in a PRESEAON GAME! E-N won this year's edition 20-0 as Ross Salovitch's didn't allow F-N any positive yardage in the 4th quarter

6. SEACREST-GET OUT

Generally, I find Bronco fans insufferable (that IN-COM-PLETE thing they do makes me want to punch a baby), but at least they had the good sense to vociferously boo talking haircut Ryan Seacrest when waltzed out onto the field Thursday night. Between that and the 9 minute Carrie Underwood opening to Sunday Night Football, I think the NFL needs a "Vice President in charge of reminding you what your demographic is". I think I'm the man for the job.

 5. STEVENS' UNIS

I'm a sucker for good uniforms (yes, I check Uni-Watch.com about 6 times a day), and Stevens delivered with great all black threads, with white helmets and the Arizona Cardinals logo. If not the best in NH, certainly Top 5

4. PUT A CHALK OUTLINE AROUND MY NFL PICKS

Week 1 is the toughest to pick against the spread (which is how we pick the games on McIsaac on Sports, heard 9-10 am on WTSN AM 1270, cheap plug), and right now I'm 5-9 headed into the Monday night games. Luckily gambling on the NFL isn't legal, or I might owe a large man named Vincenzo a bunch of cash (gulp)

3. MIXED REACTION TO THE NEW DIVISON FORMAT

Most of the coaches I talked to aren't crazy about condensing down to just 3 Divisions, the general consensus seems to be that 4 or 5 would be best, but a few old lower division teams were able to get W's in their new Divisions (See #9), so not EVERYONE is complaining this morning.

2. STEVEN RIDLEY, MEET THE BENCH

Oh man. If I know Bill Belichick (and I don't, but after 13 years I FEEL like I do) Steven Ridley should just put some superglue on his butt, because after his 2 fumble (1 lost and returned for a TD) performance in Buffalo, he's not seeing the field until... oh, about Week 6 or so. That's great news for everyone who took him in fantasy!

1. GAME OF THE YEAR ALREADY?

It wasn't a work of art (especially in the first half), but Somersworth and Stevens played an extremely entertaining Double Overtime game Friday night in Claremont (which, BTW, you could've heard on WTSN).

Down 7-0 in the 3rd, Mike Paquette hit Colin Beckmeyer on a beautiful 62 Yard Play Action bomb to make it 7-6, but Donald Pellerin answered with an 85 yard KO return.  The teams traded scores in the 4th, including another Paquette to Beckmeyer bomb (47 yards this time) with 5 minutes to go that tied the score.

A Nick Honnaker TD run in OT gave Somersworth the lead, but PAT was no good. Stevens had a chance to win after a Donald Pellerin TD- but Somersworth blocked the PAT!

In Double OT the Stevens D held, and Pellerin once again got into the endzone, this time to win the game. 4 TD's total for Pellerin, and an early GOTY candidate for both teams.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Dave is very defensive about Darren Sproles, I'm killing Eliot in Fantasy, The gif of Jason Witten puking (look it up), Eli out Romo'ing Romo, Exeter is still a beast
