Everyone loves Power Polls – no matter how silly the Rankings are. Remember when Winnacunnet beat Exeter, and was somehow ranked beneath them?

HA! Anyway, everyone knows that the ONLY Power Poll that matters belongs to WTSN’s Justin McIsaac….

10. SAFETIES

There was ANOTHER one last night in the Seattle thrashing of San Francisco. There were about 10 in week 1 – we’re two more safeties away from a 9 minute Kenny Mayne bit on NFL Countdown

9. CAN’T  IGNORE KEENE

Power Poll voters love to vote for:
1. Any Manchester Team
2. BG
3. Any Manchester team they hadn’t already voted for
But they’re going to be forced to take a look at the Keene Blackbirds, who gave defending D1 Champs Exeter everything they could handle on Friday night in a 13-3 loss, and were the only team to beat Winnacunnet last year. A HUGE game with BG at Stellos is on the slate for Friday night, that could well decide which one of those two teams gets into the playoffs from the “West” Conference in D1.

8. BULLDOGS KEEP MOVIN ON UP

A 14-12 win over Powerhouse Pinkerton was a nice “HOW YOU DOIN!?!?!” for Bedford, as they moved up to their 3rd division in 3 years. Week 1 is the best time to catch a team, some say, but with Bedford taking West out behind the woodshed (61-0), they’ve served notice that the Bulldogs aren’t going to be D1 lapdogs. As long as they don’t get caught looking ahead to an October game in Concord, they’ll be in a good position for a playoff spot

7. M/V – INSPIRED BY NHSPORTSPAGE?

If you check Dave’s D2 preview http://nhsportspage.com/news.php?news_id=782444 , he picked Merrimack Valley to finish 4th outta 5 in D2’s Eastern Sub-Division (I like “Sub-Division” more than “Conference”, BTW).  That didn’t sit well with the Pride’s JT Driscoll (@7_14_21) who tweeted out:

“Nhsportspage putting us 4th out of 5 teams and not making the playoffs talk about some motivation @Iv7Niyo @ryanhead3 @CMartin_5 #GottaGetIt” on 9/4.

MV has backed it up, going 2-0, with a 39-0 thrashing of Kearsarge this weekend. Suddenly a sub-conference that seemed to be a two horse race between STA and Portsmouth is a bit more complicated. MV faces a BIG test at Portsmouth on Friday night, which you can hear on wtsnam1270.com, with myself and former Clipper Rick Holt bringing you the call (cheap plug).

6. YOU CAN BE A PATRIOTS WIDE RECIEVER

Like a guy dumping his wife for a 22 year old airhead, the Pats got younger at WR, but not necessarily better. I will say this though- settle down. They’ll be better in Week 12 than they are now, and 2-0 is 2-0.
(It’d be nice to have Wes Welker though)

 5. WELCOME TO THE NEW DIGS!
Eliot, Dave, and a bunch of Canadians have been working hard to bring you the new site- word is there’s an easter egg somewhere that Haley demanded, that is nothing but pictures of Brady Quinn. Haven’t found it yet….

4. DELAYS

If you count the SuperBowl, this is the 3rd straight week of NFL Football where you’ve had games with a delay. At least THIS time, NBC had the good sense to throw it back to Dan Patrick, who can ad lib. Plus, as much as I despise Tony Dungy, the trio of Dan, Tony, and Rodney Harrison is great. Now cut the crap, mother nature.

3. IT’S DEEP, AND I DON’T THINK IT’S PLAYABLE

Keith Olbermann’s show on ESPN 2 is the best sports show going. Period. For you guys (and gals) in High School that read this, SportsCenter used to be great when Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann were the hosts. Now 15 minute segments on LeBron’s hair. No episodes dedicated to Tebow’s birthday. Olbermann’s new show is the closest thing we’ll get to that. Watch Olbermann, and if you don’t love it, I’ll give you next week’s column for free!

2. MAYBE EVERY NFL TEAM SHOULD SWITCH TO CRAPPY UNIS

Miami might have some USFL style gear going on, but they’ve run out to a 2-0 start with road wins over the Browns and the Colts. Even Ryan Tannehill’s wife couldn’t make these threads look good, but the ‘Phins might be decent this year.

1. GREAT SCOTT!

Spaulding’s got a young team, but Trey Scott is one of the Seniors on a Red Raider team that gave South a tough game last week. Going on the road, the Red Raiders needed a win , and they leaned on Trey – 26 carries for 203 yards, including a 65 yard TD run to ice a 27-14 SHS win with 1:45 left.  This is the 3rd straight year that Scott might be the most under-rated back in NH.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: STA’s new unis are straight fire, Dave filling in for me on WTSN next Monday night, My fantasy team’s name (2 Mannings, 1 cup), No top 10 next week because I’M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD, Aaron Rodgers throwing for 480, Mike Napoli’s beard
