McIsaac compares his fantasy success to a Kryptonian General

Everyone loves Power Polls – no matter how silly the Rankings are. Remember when Winnacunnet beat Exeter, and was somehow ranked beneath them? HA! Anyway, everyone knows that the ONLY Power Poll that matters belongs to WTSN’s Justin McIsaac….

10. THAT’S JUST ROMO BEING ROMO
Tony Romo threw for 505 yards and 5 TD’s yesterday against the Broncos. That’s really good! Historically good even! However, with the score tied at 48 in the 4th, every single person alive that knows anything about the NFL KNEW Romo was going to throw an INT to cost Dallas the game, and he didn’t disappoint. It’s comforting, knowing he’s going to throw up on his shoes, like the knowing the sun is going to rise…

9. PHIL SIMMS DOESN’TUNDERSTAND MATH
I think the NFL secretly keeps Simms as the #1 analyst on CBS as a way to warn people of the dangers of concussions. Dallas had scored to get within 5 of Denver. Easy decision to go for 2 right? If you kick the PAT and go down 4, you STILL need a TD, just like going for 2 and missing puts you down 5. Simms couldn’t quite wrap his head around that concept, and my wife had to (once again) tell me to stop yelling at the TV.

8. MIKE PAQUETTE ON PLAY ACTION
The Somersworth High Hilltoppers run the ball A LOT. They run a T formation most of the time, so play action fakes are especially effective. But a great fake means nothing if your QB can’t put the pumpkin in the hands of his WR’s- and I haven’t seen anyone this year that throws a prettier ball than Somersworth’s Mike Paquette.  His throws have been Jeff Blake-esque (That’s a compliment), and the ‘Toppers are 3-2 in a crowded D3 South Sub-division.

7. WAIT THE SEASON IS HALF OVER?
This thing just got going!  But yeah, it’s time to start thinking about playoff implications already, with just 3 or 4 games to go in some cases. Monadnock can actually clinch a spot (I think) if they win over Con-Val this Saturday

6. CAN PELHAM RUN THE TABLE?
As Eliot Bless noted on twitter this weekend, the Pythons have done a good job rebuilding their program and are 4-0, with 4 winnable games remaining. Not bad for a team that went 3-6 last year, and 0-9 in 2011

5. HELP US GRONK, YOU’RE OUR ONLY HOPE
Yeah so I’ve seen enough of Michael Hoomanawanui to last the rest of my life (Yes, that was a copy-paste). I don’t know if it’s Gronk’s father keeping him on the bench, or if the Pats are being extra cautious, or if he has crabs (probably), or what, but I need me some 87 in my life against the Saints.

4. ALL OF HALEY’S FRIENDS HATE ME….
…. Because my Fantasyn team (“2 Mannings 1 Cup”) is DOMINATING in the league we’re in. 5-0, causing the league commish to put up a post that said “Can anyone stop McIsaac?” (Answer: No.) Don’t think I didn’t send out an e-mail with a picture of General Zod taunting the entire league, either.

3. SEACOAST BIAS
Dave puts a Spaulding game in the staff picks every week, since he knows I’ll pick my Alma Mater every single time, even if they played the Broncos. But I had a REALLY good feeling they’d be able to beat Winnacunnet at home, and I was proved correct. I also had a good feeling about Dover taking care of North, and once again, McIsaac was right. The result is that D1 East is a logjam…

 School   W   L   T   Points   Rating
EAST
Exeter 3 2 0 3.00 0.6000
Spaulding 3 2 0 3.00 0.6000
Winnacunnet 3 2 0 3.00 0.6000
Dover 2 3 0 2.00 0.4000
Timberlane 1 3 0 1.00 0.2500

… and Dave won’t speak to me after all my gloating. Speaking of the Seacoast….

2. TWO HUGE GAMES THIS WEEKEND, THAT YOU CAN FIND ON YOUR RADIO AND/OR SMARTPHONE
I’m already fired up fort the two games we’re broadcasting this weekend on WTSN – Friday Portsmouth hosts St. Thomas for D2 Seacoast bragging rights, and, more importantly, 1st place in D2 East. Saturday I’m at Stellos for Spaulding @ BG, in a game both teams REALLY need to stay in the playoff hunt. Sorry in advance to BG fans that tune in and hear me screaming like a lunatic everytime Spaulding does something good.

1. JESIAH WADE >>>>>>>>>> DWYANE WADE
I had pretty much the same reaction that everyone else did when the reports of Wade’s record breaking day came in: “HOLY @#(* !!!!”  556 yards against poor Merrimack, and a new unofficial NH State record (nobody keeps official records). That’s a SEASON for some guys! Congrats to Jesiah. It’s shocking though that 556 is only the 12th best of all time in US High School History. I don’t think I’ve run 556 yards total in my life – not in football, just living.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: David Price, STFU on twitter, ESPN’s Fantasy Football had the Chiefs D scoring 3 TD’s for a while, Haley might adopt Somersworth as his homer team since the use Notre Dame’s fight song as their own
