NHsportspage, a team of all-stars from Manchester Central, Bedford and Trinity, went undefeated in the double elimination Seacoast Tournament 11th & 12th grade division and won their second consecutive title with a 90-81 win over Cimos Friday night at the Coney Bean in Portsmouth

Cimos, featuring players from Trinity, Pembroke, Bishop Brady, Londonderry and coached by Rich Otis, would defeat an All-star team from Maine as well as The Fighting McIsaacs (who finished 3rd) but would lose both of their meetings with NHsportspage in finishing as the tournament runner-up.

NHsportspage jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead on back to back three pointers from Jon Martin (Central) but Cimos quickly rallied behind Cody Ball (Londonderry) and the combined efforts of Pembroke’s tandem of Patrick Welch and Kafani ‘Jordan’ Williams to tie the game at 15-15.

Brett Hanson though changed the tempo of the game with a pull-up three followed by a steal & dunk in transition after jumping a Ryan Otis pass intended for Welch to take a 29-22 lead. Joey Martin (game high 25 points) then buried a three from the wing as NHsportspage extended the lead to 47-28 at the half. A half that ended with Williams, one of the best power forwards in New Hampshire, having his shot blocked at the rim by Wenyen Gabriel (Trinity). NHsportspage used a 25-12 run to end the half.

Welch and Ball each buried long jumpers to try and cut the gap early in the second half. Cimos was able to get transition baskets behind Jourdain & Joe Bell in the first meeting but struggled to get any sort of momentum going in the title game. Joey Martin buried back to back treys to make it 59-40 with 12 minutes left as Gabriel and teammate Carmen Giampetruzzi (8 points) held Williams & company to one shot per possession.

Cimos made their last real run with a nice pull-up jumper from Welch that cut the deficit to 63-49 but NHsportspage answered behind Hanson, the tournament MVP, as he buried a pull-up jumper in the lane that was followed up by a Jon Martin three from the left wing with Welch all over him playing terrific defense. A Giampetruzzi feed in the lane to Gabriel for a lay-up made it 84-66 with 3:43 remaining and essentially was the nail in the coffin.

Hanson was named tournament MVP in a post-game ceremony held by tournament organizer Peter Goodwin as Gabriel and Jon Martin joined him on the All-Tournament team along with Welch and teammate Dominic Timbas. Dawson Dickson, Gabriel, Cam Meservey, Giampetruzzi, Joey & Jon Martin, Hanson and Coach Tom Dickson were all presented with the tournament trophy (that will now proudly reside at The Auburn Pitts) and tournament champions t-shirts. It was NHsportspage’s second championship of the week after they swept the high school divisions with a win in the 9th & 10th grade division on Wednesday night.
