The rosters and coaching staff for New Hampshire’s 2014 Twin State Boys Basketball team were finalized this week as longtime Winnacunnet Head coach Jay McKenna leads the top Granite State seniors against their rivals from Vermont.

After years of making the long drive to the land of maple syrup and hacky sacks New Hampshire gets a home game as Keene State College will host the boys and girls games on July 19th. A game we will have full video coverage of on NHsportspage.com

Joining McKenna on his coaching staff will be Portsmouth head coach Jim Mulvey and Dover head coach Mike Romps, two highly respected coaches with championship game experience.

All four divisions are represented on a New Hampshire roster that will feature good size both in the frontcourt and amongst a very good group of guards.

Division I Player of the Year Eric Gendron of Merrimack will be joined in the backcourt by Manchester Central All-State guard Jon Martin, Division III Player of the year Rob O’Brien of Conant, Winnacunnet combo guard Richie Ruffin, Nashua South’s explosive Yordy Tavarez and Bedford all-state shooting guard Cam Meservey.

A very deep frontcourt is led by Conant all-state center Eli Hodgson, Merrimack all-state big man Shayne Bourque, Portsmouth all-state center Patrick Glynn, Division IV player of the year Jimmy Stanley of Epping, Hopkinton all-state power forward Gabe Nichols and Hollis-Brookline shot blocker Shea Whalen.

Trinity’s Carmen Giampetruzzi and Pembroke Academy’s Kafani Williams were invited to play on the team but will not participate. Giampetruzzi will be playing baseball all summer on a travel team while Williams could not commit to playing on the team. Division II player of the year Patrick Welch is ineligible due to a suspension handed down by the coaches association.

Justin McIsaac and I will call the game live on July 19th as we will have coverage of not only the event but from practices leading up to the battle against Vermont.
