 Division I

 Londonderry (7-1) at Salem (7-1)
The coverage of Salem is sponsored by Merrimack Valley Sports

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know what is at stake here; the winner is in the playoffs and at Pinkerton Academy next weekend while the loser justifiably feels like they got screwed.

This one feels like it will come down to an elite Lancers offense against an elite Salem defense. Londonderry QB Eric Fariweather leads Division I with 16 touchdowns and 1,031 yards rushing. Salem has to limit his big plays because when Fairweather gets to the second level of the defense he knows how to finish the play. The Blue Devils kept TJ Urbanik and Pinkerton from beating them with those kinds of big plays back in September and they’ll need to do it again Friday night.

Salem gets their quarterback John Cerretani back after a one game absence and he leads a very balanced offense that hasn’t had to rely on one player alone. Charles Sibanda (702 yards rushing and 14 TDs) leads a very good group that includes Johnny Bartose (563 yds.), Josh Rodriguez (198) and Nick Shumski (145). The Lancers defense will have Michael Ryan flying all over the field Friday night and it’s hard to see this one not living up to the hype. The playoffs start right here……

Pete Tarrier and The Great Jon Kesty will be there, bringing you all the action in our Manchester Bingo & Poker Room Game of the Week.

Concord (6-2) at Exeter 6-2)
Manchester Memorial (5-3) at Goffstown (4-4)
Nashua South (4-4) at Bishop Guertin (3-5)

Concord is back in the playoffs and headed to Bedford next weekend with either a win or a Manchester Memorial loss. Peter Colcord’s team needs to root for an Exeter win Friday night, and I imagine the coaching staff will be at Bill Ball Stadium to see for themselves, and then a win at Goffstown Saturday.

Exeter is playing better by the week. The defense has been very good from day one but the offense is clicking a bit with Kyle Ball under center and they have cut down on the turnovers that plagued them in the first five games. Concord has regained a bit of their mojo as well; they’ve survived major injuries and QB Robert Law has played very good football since the Crimson realized their season was hanging in the  balance about three weeks ago...

Bishop Guertin has had to deal with their own major injuries and even going back to the pre-season, this was an undersized line on both sides of the ball. Kelvin Rivera has returned and now Travis Cote’s team controls their own destiny. A win over Nashua South and they are in..

Listen in this Saturday morning to another edition of the New Hampshire High School Football Show as Pete Tarrier & I break down the biggest games of the week and preview the Saturday match-ups as well from 8 to 9 am on WGIR 610 AM or 96,7 FM on the seacoast.

 Division II

Kearsarge Regional (4-3) at Laconia (4-3)

Winner here gets in…we think….I still hear conflicting reports…

The Sachems threw the kitchen sink at Kennett last Friday night and you can be sure Vaughn Beckwith’s Eagles would rather see anyone else marching onto their field next Saturday afternoon. The Sachems absolutely believe they will beat Kennett if they get another shot at them and I’m pretty certain Lebanon does not feel the same way…

When coaches fill out their All-State ballots they’ll decide between Will Pollard (Kennett), Brendan McInnis (Windham) and Stephen Hedberg (St. Thomas) as the best quarterback in their division. Here is an open request to keep a fourth name in mind; Laconia’s Matt Swormstedt does as much for his football team as any QB in the state and the numbers (959 yds. and 10 TDs. plus 400 yds. rushing) back that statement up.

Trinity (5-2) at St. Thomas (6-1)
The coverage of Trinity is sponsored by The Auburn Pitts

I think we have let Trinity fly a little under the radar this season (Justin McIsaac just spit our his coffee reading that..) but Head coach Steve Burns has done a really nice job with this group. Saturday they see how they stack up against one of the three best teams in Division II.

The Saints have been very good against the run but they haven’t faced many rushing attacks like Trinity’s. This is a good opportunity the week before the playoffs start to see where both teams stand.

 Division III

 Bow (7-0) at Somersworth (6-1)

This a really fun match-up Saturday afternoon in what will likely be some pretty ugly weather.

The best team defense in the state faces off against the leading rusher in New Hampshire (Elyjah Dejoie) and if Dejoie is able to break through this Bow defense he will be the very first running back to do it this season. Here are some staggering numbers for you to chew on:
Stevens rushed the ball 20  times for zero yards against Bow.
Epping Newmarket 42 times for 75 yards
Bishop Brady 20 times for 22 yards
Raymond 28 for 83 and 50 of those yards came against JV players and third stringers late in the game.
Winnisquam 24 carries for 4 yards
Campbell 14 carries for minus 4 yards
Oh and Bow has given up 25 points all season….

Those are the numbers folks…. So how will Somersworth’s very good offensive line, led by Hunter Kretschmar, stack up Saturday afternoon. Can Dejoie go for 100 yards against the Wall that Bow calls a defense? Can he even get to 75? Or does Dejoie become the first back to run through, past and around the best defense in New Hampshire?
