Listicles are great- but my weekly listicle is REALLY great. These are the Top 10 things of the week as voted on by the voices in my own head. Dave doesn’t get a vote in THIS power poll, either.

10. IT’S SNITCHES GET STICHES WEEK

You’re a damned dirty liar if you haven’t had the Patriots-Colts game circled on your schedule since it came out that the Colts were crying to the league about deflated footballs. It all turned out the be BS, of course, but Bill Belichick had to spend half of his Super Bowl prep week doing Mr Wizard experiments on footballs, all because the Colts were butthurt about getting destroyed in the AFC title game.  The line for this game is somehow only Pats -7.5, I’d bet my life on the Pats winning by at least 50.

9. THE NORTH REMEMBERS

In my ongoing attempt to use the word “remember” whenever talking about Nashua North, let’s talk about Nashua North! BIG WIN over Concord sets up a showdown for D1 West (btw, I like that North, and South play in the West, but in D2 West plays in the East), as next week the Titans will be the “home” team against BG. Stellos will be rocking that night!

8. LEBANON SETS ITSELF UP

With a win over Hanover for the “Principals Cup” (I love games for trophies- the “Spotted Turtle Trophy” might be my favorite in NH), Lebanon goes to 4-1, and the control their own fate in D2 North. Over the next two weeks they travel to Kennett, and then host Kearsarge, who are both 4-1 at the moment. A pair of wins probably seals the conference for the Raiders.

7. MILFORD HITS THE BYE WEEK ON FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE

46-12 over Trinity! You might’ve expected the Spartans to hold serve at home, but I didn’t think it would be a smack down like that- Mark Madigan was everywhere, running back kicks, grabbing INT’s, running it in as a RB, and then he repainted the lines on the field once the game was over. Milford has a week off before heading to Mt. Jaguar for a WICKED big game with Windham.

6. PRESIDENTIAL ADS

I’m already at my breaking point. I don’t care who you vote for, or who you support, or whatever. There’s no way you can deny that you want to shatter your flat screen with the remote when you see one of these clowns on TV for the 43rd time during a game. By December, the only ads on TV will be for Jeb! Bush or Draft Kings.

5. CON-VAL’S COMEBACK COMES JUST SHORT

Con-Val got down 28-7 to Kingswood on the road, but behind QB  Dan Spezzaferri’s 5 TD passes, the Cougars were able to tie things up at 35. The Knights of Kingswood would prevail in the OT, and Con-Val dropped to 1-4. The Cougars are just a few plays from being 3-2 though, keep on fighting Con-Val!

4. THE END OF THE BC-WAKE FORREST GAME

Guys... over there...  (USATSI photo)

I didn’t watch most of the BC- Wake Forrest game, which, considering it was 3-0 in the final minute, is probably a good thing. The final minute though, was a wonderful cluster-#&$@. On the WF 8 with 2:12 to go, BC fumbled. Ball game, right? NOT SO FAST. Wake gave it right back on their own 11 with :56 to play. BC, not to be outdone, ran the ball on 1st and goal from the 2 with :18, got stuffed, and couldn’t get lined up to spike the ball. THAT’S SOME GOOD SITUATIONAL FOOTBALL! It was pretty cringe-worthy, and I’m glad I saw the end.

3. RUTGERS ALMOST TOPS THAT

The Scarlet Knights were looking for an upset of #4 (at the time) Michigan State- they lead at the half, and were down 7 in the closing seconds when they lined up and spiked the ball to stop the clock. The only problem? It was 4th down. WHOOPS! Interim Coach Norries Wilson took the blame, but you GOTTA KNOW what down it is when you’re the QB, right?

2. LEIF ERICKSON DAY

Even Spongebob knows....

Come on. He beat Columbus to North America by 500 years, and managed not to enslave anyone in the process. I’m all for an extra day off in October, but it IS kind of weird that Columbus is the one being celebrated, right?

1. THE WARRIORS CAME OUT TO PLAY

What a performance by Winnacunnet on Friday night- they marched into Derry, unintimidated, and took it to the defending champs in a 17-7 win behind Mike Lewis’ 144 yards. Winnacunnet kept their playoff hopes alive in D1, and made things tough for Pinkerton in a crowded D1 South

ALSO RECIVEING VOTES: Dion Lewis breaking ankles, Julien Edelman ALSO breaking ankles, Spaulding putting a scare into Salem, Candy Corn, The Bayley-Sasha Banks Ironman match from NXT, Goffstown wins the big battle on Saturday
