Justin McIsaac's Top 10 of Everything... and Anything...

Get well soon, Seth

Listicles are great- but my weekly listicle is REALLY great. These are the Top 10 things of the week as voted on by the voices in my own head. Dave doesn’t get a vote in THIS power poll, either.

10. IT’S GOING TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY D1 PICK TO WIN IT ALL

I took Timberlane to win the whole thing as a pre-playoff prediction, but Pinkerton had other ideas in a 23-17 win over the Owls, getting 3 turnovers on defense. The defending champs get Exeter in the Semis, a team they beat just 2 weeks ago by a point. Life Pro Tip, you’re going to be wrong almost 99% of the time when your pick loses in round 1.

9. NO SWEAT FOR NEWPORT

As an avowed Seacoast homer, it was with pain that I picked Newport to beat Somersworth on Saturday, but you gotta pick with your head, not your heart. Noah Wade was a beast for the Tigers, running for 4 TD’s in the first half to give Newport a date with Bow in the Semi-Finals.

8. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA TAKE THAT PEYTON

A tradition unlike any other- The Manning Face

Jim Nantz announcing a game in which Peyton Manning has a chance to break a record in- that’s a recipe for the mute button if I’ve ever seen one. Saint Manning threw two picks that TOTALLY WERE NOT HIS FAULT and came up, as you can see, 3 yards short of passing Brett Favre on the all time yardage list. Jim Nantz is supposed to call Pats-Giants next week, but I get the feeling he’s going to have Spero Dedes or Ian Eagle executed so he can be near Pey-Pey when the record is broken next week.

7. #SQUAM SURVIVES FIRST HALF, COMES OUT FIRING IN THE SECOND

Through 24 minutes the Golden Tornadoes had given the Bears everything they could handle, and my pick in D3 was up just 13-7. But it was all Bears in the 2nd half, Jake Snow had 3 TD’s in the game and Winnisquam is a win away from Durham. Winnisquam is hard to type when tweeting, I suggest we all calling them #Squam, for the sake of brevity.

6. INTER-LAKES/MOULTONBOROUGH MAKES IT LOOK EASY

Nick Brothers ran for 3 scores (from 54, 30, and 21 yards out), and the Lakers rolled 49-7 over Bishop Brady on Saturday. The D3 Semi-finals are going to be awesome, as the four teams everyone thought would be in the Semis are there, I/L-M vs #Squam on one side, and Newport v Bow in the other. Speaking of which…

5. BOW GETS A SCARE FROM A YOUNG CARDINALS TEAM

Down 14-13 in the 4th, Bow coach Paul Cohen passed up a FG that gave his team a 2 point lead- a roughing the kicker call was accepted, taking points off the board. This, it must be noted, would’ve been NUMBER ONE with a bullet on my top 10 if it hadn’t worked out for the Falcons. But Jack Corriveau ran it in for the TD that gave Bow a 21-14 win over a very game Stevens squad. It won’t get easier for Bow, but the Falcons certainly know their coach believes in their ability to put it in the endzone.

4. SPARTAN REVENGE

Milford’s only loss this season was to rival Souhegan, but there’s no better pay back than getting a W in the playoffs. 2 touchdowns from Bryce Walker gives Milford a trip to Dover Point road to take on the undefeated Saint Thomas Saints. Saints vs Spartans sounds like the next Michael Bay movie, doesn’t it?

3. ST. THOMAS PASSES THEIR FIRST REAL TEST

The Saints got punched in the mouth by a very tough Monadnock team on Saturday- QB Stephen Hedberg was crushed on STA’s first play from scrimmage, and the Saints had to fight for every yard in a 28-7 win over Monadnock. This was a 14-7 game in the 4th, with some uneasiness spreading through the fans on the hill at STA, but Nate Grunbeck had 3 TD’s (2 receiving, 1 on a pick-6), and STA moves on to the Semi-Finals, and if there were any worries about them sleepwalking into the playoffs, this was probably the wakeup call they needed.

2. BIG 10 REFS AND ACC REFS SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH WWE REFS

In fairness, he only took 4 steps out of bounds before coming back in play

That Michigan State- Nebraska call, eh? I understand that refereeing is a hard, hard job, but these aren’t exactly the hardest calls these guys are missing (and missing… and missing…). Earl Hebner and Nick Patrick will have the Rose Bowl this year.

1. BARNBURNER AT STELLOS

Bedford stopped a BG 2 Pointer with seconds to play to hang on for a crazy-pants 41-39 win over the Cardinals to survive and advance to the Semi-Finals, in a game BG lead 21-3 at one point (BTW, you know a score is surprising when you see multiple people make the “WTF?” face at their phones checking scores on twitter). BG lost the lead, but pulled to within 1 with 3 minutes left- only to be denied on a 2 pointer that time, also (Can a BG soccer player put on some shoulder pads please?). Bedford’s reward? Undefeated Goffstown- some reward!

ALSO RECIVING VOTES: Goffstown rolls, Exeter throws their way past Salem- what?!?, Is there a healthy Pats O-Lineman in the house?, Seth Rollins tearing up his knee forcing a tourney for the WWE title
