It's Back!

But till you came around, we counted on our fingers and toes...

“Wait a minute, I thought we only got a Top 10 during Football season?” Well it’s your lucky day, boys and girls – Justin McIsaac is back with the Top 10 things that bounced around in his head this week…

10. GTFO, 2016

As if the year didn’t have enough terrible things happen (18 days until the apocalypse, btw), that bastard of a year said to us “You think I’m done? I’m taking Princess Leia with me, and OH BY THE WAY HER MOTHER TOO JUST BECAUSE I CAN”.  I’m pretty sure 2017 couldn’t get here fast enough for all of us. Speaking of which…

9. THE FIRST THING THE PATS DID IN 2017 WAS TELL THE DOLPHINS TO GET THEIR SHINEBOX

FOH, Ndamukong Suh. Matt Moore? MORE LIKE MATT LESS AMIRITE? The Pats have won at least 12 games for the 5th straight year. That’s a ridiculous streak. And I don’t want to get cocky, but there’s a 2687513 chance that they’ll be in the Super Bowl again this year. I might start rooting for the Browns just because all this winning is getting boring (NOTE: I will not start rooting for the Browns)

8. INJURIES

The season hasn’t really gotten into full swing yet, and two favorites are playing without player of the year candidates – Portsmouth is without Joey Glynn, and Lebanon is without the services of KJ Matte. Both the Clippers and the Raiders have been able to weather the storm so far, and I hope for all hoop fans sake that they’re back sooner rather than later.

7. HALFTIME OF THE ROSE BOWL

I’m watching The Rose Bowl as I wrote this, and ESPN has been showing the USC and Penn State bands for what feels like the last 6 days. This must make the #ShushGate parents very happy, but get some football back on my screen.

6. THE NEW NHIAA WEBSITE

I like the way it looks, I like the layout, once I got used to where stuff is – BUT –  when it’s 9 pm on a Friday and I can’t find the scores for the few games not updated on twitter, and the site is crashed, I want to throw my phone into a lake. Give us the name of the new web host, NHIAA, we’ll send them the message!

5. GIRLS HOOPS MAKES THEIR NH SPORTSPAGE DEBUT!

Alvirne over North in the finals of the Chick Fil A tourney from over the holiday. Good to see the ladies getting some of the NHSportspage attention. We need gold level members to keep growing though, so we can bring more coverage like this!

4. MY HERO ZERO, SUCH A FUNNY LITTLE HERO….

Oh, you know the commercial. I love the good people at Volkswagen and I hope they spend a million dollars on advertising with NH Sportspage and MOSN, but if I see that commercial one more time during a football game, I’m going to put a beer glass thorugh a flatscreen.

Actually the commercial is partially my generation’s fault-  the band doing the song is The Lemonheads, doing a cover of a Schoolhouse Rock song. For some reason in the 90’s, there was a Schoolhouse Rock renaissance and all our favorite Flannel-clad bands did covers of the old songs. I don’t really understand it either. But, Our Bad on the annoying ad I guess.

3.   MARIAH CAREY BRINGING THE HEAT ON NYE

Let’s get something straight- that live Mariah Carey meltdown was the best possible thing that could’ve come from the Ryan Seacrest snore fest that is called New Year’s Rockin Eve. Between Seacrest being as exciting as a butter sandwich on white bread, with a glass of milk, and Jenny McCarthy’s botox’d head putting me to sleep well before midnight, the sight of Mariah giving zero F’s whatsoever as her in ear monitor failed, and openly discussing that there wasn’t a soundcheck was the highlight of the show.

2. D4 HAD A NICE HOLIDAY

Dave and I saw Newmarket handle D2 Kennett at the Mike Lee Holiday Bash, Epping had some nice wins in Keene, Littleton had their way in Hanover. Before NHSportspage, D4 (and D3 for that matter) were forgotten by some around the state, but no longer.

1. THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

It’s almost a tease that we get a few games in before the holidays, but January through March is probably the best time for HS Sports fans. HS Hoops and Hockey 4 times a week from now through St. Patrick’s Day, and this should prove to be one of the most exciting season’s to date, with wide open fields in D2 and D3, and some heavy hitters in D1 and D4 duking it out.

ALSO RECIVEING VOTES: I haven’t seen Rouge One yet and I’m dying inside because of it, RIP my wallet after Christmas, Coach K is out and there’s a sanctimonious vacuum to be filled, Prepare for lots of Spaulding hoop on MOSN
