Bye Felicia

“Wait a minute, I thought we only got a Top 10 during Football season?” Well it’s your lucky day, boys and girls – Justin McIsaac is back with the Top 10 things that bounced around in his head this week…

10. HEY SO LITTLETON IS PRETTY GOOD EH?

A dominating performance from Trevor Howard’s squad on Friday has them at the top of D4, and so far Epping is the only team that’s been able to give the defending champs a game. Hosting PCA might be the only sort of challenge they face before the big one with Groveton on 1/27

9. GET THE HELL OUT OF MY PLAYOFFS, NY GIANTS

When the Giants and Packers game was close in the first half, I, like most Pats fans I’m guessing, had the thought of “Oh no, not this crap again”. Aaron Rodgers woke up in the 2nd half though, and it’s going to be a tire fire on NY Sports radio this week blaming the Giants WR’s for going on a boat on their day off. At least there will be no chance of Eli pulling a horse shoe out of his posterior in the Super Bowl this year.

8. HOPKINTON LEADS A CROWDED DIVISION 3

It always takes a while for D3 to shake out, since somehow there’s 623 teams involved. So far though, Hopkinton has stayed unblemished, with good wins over Monadnock, Mascoma, and preseason favorite Kearsarge. No room for the Hawks to breath though, as there’s ELEVEN teams with just 1 or 2 losses

7. MATT MOORE WAS PROBABLY CONCUSSED, AND PHIL SIMMS IS A DOPE

Yeah, we all saw the hit where Matt Moore nearly lost his life against the Steelers. And somehow after a near decapitation, we saw as he came back in just one play later. What really got me annoyed though, was Phil Simms saying something to the effect of “Well, those doctors the league has wouldn’t let him in the game if they didn’t think he was ok”, to the collective laughter of anyone with even 1/4th of a brain. NFL teams would send someone out on the field with a bleeding gunshot wound if they thought that player could get a first down. THAT’S A FOOTBAW GUY RIGHT THERE.

6. REGGIE AND MILFORD HAVE A BIG ONE TUESDAY NIGHT

Milford has raced out to 4-0, and although Lebanon is the favorite in D2 this year, with Portsmouth beating up D1, it’s anyone’s division. Matt Regan’s former crew is similarly unblemished, and it should be a big one Friday night.

5. TAYLER MATTOS MESSED AROUND AND HAD A TRIPLE DOUBLE

49 points, 21 rebounds & 10 blocks and Kearsarge needed every one of them to beat Campbell last Tuesday. Mattos followed that up with a 32 point night at Mascenic. I don’t watch a lot of sports, but that seems like a decent week. Mattos is leading the state in scoring with a shade under 30 PPG

4. CAN A PINKERTON WIN EVER BE CONSIDERED AN UPSET?

Usually the answer is an emphatic “NO!”, but I have to make an exception in this case. A nice win for the Astros over the team that was #2 in the NHSportspage Power Index is the rare case where the school with 48000 kids can pull off the upset.

3. I SAY IT EVERY YEAR, AND THIS YEAR IS NO EXCEPTION

Just get right tf out of here if you’re one of those “OMG I JUST LOVE SNOW” people. You can chauffeur me to and from Boston in a blizzard next time, and explain to me HOW PRETTY it all looks while some Massachusetts plow driver, who has no regard for human life and is probably on his 22nd hour of driving without a nap, cuts you off and nearly sends you into the next life. Snow isn’t pretty. It’s the devil’s dandruff.

2. PITTSFIELD GETS A SIGNATURE WIN, AND ONLY JEN CHICK BELIEVED IN THEM

The thing about doing staff picks for NH Sportspage is this: You better be right, because if you’re not, a whole team full of kids will let you hear it. Or, in the case of Plymouth and Grubbzingis, you become their champion. After a HUGE win for Pittsfield over Newmarket at the Mule Dome, it looks like Pittsfield has a signature win, and Jen has a team she’s picking every week in Staff picks!

1. SPAULDING WEEK!!

YEAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH BABY! If you thought my Spaulding homerism was bad before, it’s about to hit a new level. Two GIGANTIC games for my Alma Mater this week, Tuesday at WInnacunnet, and Friday at Portsmouth, and you better believe we’ll have coverage of both of these games on MOSN and NHSportspage.com! These are games I’ve been looking forward to since the end of last season, I just hope Jay McKenna and Jim Mulvey are still on speaking terms with me after this week….

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES:  Somersworth with a nice bounce back W, Conant lurking in the shadows at 2-2, Americas Team the Lisbon Panthers at 3-3, Team USA with a performance for the ages at the World Junior Hockey Championships
