He's baaaack

This applies to pumpkin flavored ANYTHING.

IT'S BACK! The most electrifying listicle in sports today, Justin McIsaac’s Top 10! We've streamlined the voting process this year, only Justin McIsaacs can vote in the Top 10. Unless I just completely made that up. Anyway...

10. BY GAWD FOOTBAW IS BACK!

Listen, I’m the biggest fan of summer there is in this world – give me sweating buckets over wearing 19 layers any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. But the best thing about fall is kicking off the pigskin across all 3 levels of football. Let’s get it on.

9. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE NEW GIG

So unless you’ve been living under social media rock, you’ve probably heard me screaming about how I’m a part of the UNH Football radio team now… sorry if I’ve spammed you about it, but I’m pretty fired up! What does this mean for HS Sports coverage? Well, clearly there will be a Top 10 each week, as evidenced by this here column. I’ve had to cut my coverage back on MOSN and NH SportsPage, but we’ve spruced that up a bit.

UNFORTUNATELY, I’ll have to miss the HS Football playoffs and championships, since those all happen on Saturday’s, when the Cats are in action. But trust me, I’ll be following closely – and tune in to some UNH Football games, will ya?!?

8. SOMERSWORTH OPENS UP QUICK

I picked the Hilltoppers to beat Winnisquam, not only because I’m a giant Seacoast homer, but because I think the ‘Toppers are gonna be real good this year. But I’d be a dirty liar if I told you I saw the 46-8 smashing on the Bears on the road coming. Anthony McHugh scored on his first 3 carries, which seems like a good ratio. Danny Hodsdon is one of the state’s more underrated coaches, and he might have the horses this year to do some big things.

7. EVERY D1 GAME WAS A BLOWOUT

Winny v Dover was close for a while, but I mean, look at those scores from D1 – not a close one to be had. I wouldn’t expect that to hold all season, but I do get the feeling that D1 is going to be pretty top heavy.

6. MY ANNUAL RANT AGAINST ALL THINGS PUMPKIN

I feel like the Pumpkin People have become self-aware, and now you’re only doing this crap to annoy me. Just to recap though: You don’t like pumpkin flavored things. You like cinnamon and nutmeg, and feeling like you’re Mr/Mrs Fally McAutumn, with your $68 Flannel shirts for the guys, and your Han Solo vest/leggings/boots outfit for the ladies. If someone offered you a slice of an actual pumpkin, you’d rightly punch them in the face. ENOUGH WITH THE PUMPKIN STUFF!

5. NEW COACH, SAME RESULT FOR THE SAINTS

Ryan Brown, AD at Saint Thomas, took over as the football coach with the departure of Eric Cumba. Coach Brown has kept the Saints up tempo offense, and evidently, their propensity for wining with a 27-0 shutout of Sanborn. The Saints outgained Sanborn 443-180 on their way to the W.

4. I’M GOING TO MENTION THE FIGHTING MCISAACS SEACOAST TOURNEY WIN AT LEAST ONCE PER COLUMN, SO GET USED TO IT

I’ve had to hear this malarkey from Dave for the past 5 or 6 years, so he’s getting an earful and then some until next year’s tourney, which I predict we’ll win again. AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN….

3. THERE’S NO ‘D’ IN ‘SOUHEGAN’, BUT MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE

Just sneak a silent D somewhere in there after the Sabers D stood tall inside their own 10 yard line 4 straight times to secure a win over John Stark. D2 is going to be super competitive (just like last year), and with only 8 games, a win on September 1 could pay dividends in November.

2. THE MUSKET STAYS WHERE IT BELONGS

UNH kept the Brice-Cowell Musket in Durham by defeating Maine 24-23 on Thursday night, in a game that went right down to the wire. NH kids were all over the place for the Cats, with Jared Kuehl playing with his hair on fire, Trevor Knight leading the offense, and Rick Holt coming up with a big sack late in the game. UMaine has some really good young talent, but it’s NH’s world, and everyone else is just living in it.

1. GAME OF THE WEEK GOES TO CON-VAL

Are they MY Con-Val Cougars again this year? I’m going with “YES!”.  A big overtime win thanks in part to an Andrew Skillings 26 yard FG. Again, every win in D2 is that much more important with just an 8 game schedule, and both of these teams could be playoff bound this year.

Can we talk about the condition of Milford’s field though? It’s only game 1, and it looks like they had a motocross race out there already!

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: 10 Sacks for the Windham D, UCLA’s comeback over A&M, The Sox can’t hit suddenly, No Rochester Fair this year
