Pete Tarrier's Power Poll ballot REVEALED

By Pete Tarrier, 10/10/17, 11:00AM EDT

Salem & Winnacunnet hold top spots again, Londonderry re-enters poll

A couple great games on Friday with GTOWN @ Central & Somersworth hosting Campbell

Every week I will post my Union Leader Power Poll Ballot so everybody can see who I voted for...and why I voted them in my Top 10.

Here's the latest poll after Week 6...and don't forget to see below for my ballot!

The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, with record, first-place votes/points in parentheses, plus last week’s rankings. Voters are Union Leader sports writers Roger Brown, Alex Hall and Joe Duball, Union Leader Chief Sports Editor Chris Duffy, Union Leader contributor Joe Marchilena of and Pete Tarrier, host of the NH High School Football Show(Saturday, 9-11 a.m.) on 99.9 FM & 1370 AM WFEA.

T-1. Salem, 6-0 (3/57) , T-1
T-1. Winnacunnet, 6-0 (3,57). T-1
3. Plymouth, 6-0 (43), 3rd
4. Goffstown, 5-1 (42), 4th
5. Pinkerton, 5-1 (37), 5th
6. Windham, 5-0 (27), 6th
7. Exeter, 4-2 (26), 7th
8. Londonderry, 5-1 (16), NR
9. Man. Central, 5-1 (10), T-9
10. Nashua South, 4-2 (9), T-9
Other receiving votes: Campbell (3), 5-0; Bedford, 3-3 (2), 8th; Bow, 4-1 (1), NR.

Here's how I voted...

1. Salem...the Blue Devils have been running all over the competition all year long using a bevy of talented backs and piling up the yardage in a 6-0 start.  After some rocking chair games over the last couple of weeks, the schedule gets a lot tougher down the stretch as Salem takes on Merrimack, Nashua North & Londonderry in the final 3 weekends of the regular season.

2. Winnacunnet...I saw some of the the Warriors at the Goffstown/Bedford game on Saturday perhaps scouting out potential playoff opponents.  You get the feeling this group from Winnacunnet is starting to believe they really have something special going on as they look for their 1st State Championship since the 2012 team won it all in Division 2.

3. Plymouth...the Bobcats ran their record to 6-0 following a 42-14 thrashing of Gilford-Belmont on Saturday and now Plymouth will enjoy a bye-week before wrapping up regular season play with games at Lebanon on October 20th & vs Milford on Saturday October 28th.

4. Goffstown...the Grizzlies really dominated Bedford on Saturday afternoon in front of a big crowd in Goffstown.  The GTOWN defense is arguably the best in New Hampshire and if their offense can put up at least 20 points like they did in the 21-7 win over the Bulldogs they'll be really hard to beat down the stretch.  Let's see how that defense holds up against the high-flying passing game of Manchester Central on Friday night at Gill Stadium.

5. Pinkerton...with the way they've been laying the wood to everyone this year, I'm starting to wonder if the 35-20 loss to Salem in Week 3 was just a bad day for the Astros or is Salem really that much better than Pinkerton?

6. Windham...the Jags were on a bye last week so they should be well-rested when they get back on the field for the final stretch of the season.  Windham plays Lebanon, Gilford-Belmont & ConVal in their last 3 games so if they take care of business they will have home-field advantage for at least one playoff game and maybe all the way to UNH.

7. Exeter...just a couple weeks ago after back to back losses to Goffstown & Winnacunnet it looked like this just might not be Exeter's year.  But the Blue Hawks went into Bedford 2 weeks ago and came out with a win and then they trampled Portsmouth to improve to 4-2 and seem to be in line for the postseason.  Congrats to coach Bill Ball for picking up career win number 200 last week!

8. Londonderry...this is for you Evan Cormier!  Your Lancers are 5-1 and have re-entered my Top 10!  Even better if you're a Londonderry fan, if the Lancers beat Alvirne on Friday night they clinch a playoff spot.

9. Manchester Central...the Little Green make their 1st appearance on my ballot in the regular season(I had them in my pre-season Top 10).  Coach Ryan Ray's team is 5-1 going into the big game on Friday vs Goffstown and it should be really fun watching Alex Hawkom & company go up against the Grizzlies D!

10. Campbell...the 5-0 Cougars were on a bye with the rest of Division 3 last weekend, but I didn't drop them off my ballot just because they didn't play.  That said, Campbell's spot in the Top 10 is up for grabs if Somersworth(also 5-0) can knock them off on Friday night in a game we will cover on
