Justin will try to make a new BFF this weekend

WHO'S A GOOD DUKE DOG?!?!?!

IT'S BACK! The most electrifying listicle in sports today, Justin McIsaac’s Top 10! We've streamlined the voting process this year, only Justin McIsaacs can vote in the Top 10. Unless I just completely made that up. Anyway...

10. GENERAL CHAOS

The John Stark Generals are now 6-1 with a 7-6 win over Bow on Saturday. Stark is allowing just 10.42 points per game, and only Lebanon has managed to crack 20 on them. Stark will face their toughest test of the season next week when Hanover rolls into town, but when the weather turns cold, a hot defense can take you places.

9.  BEDFORD SETS UP A “PLAYOFF” GAME WITH CENTRAL NEXT WEEK

The defending champs haven’t rolled over teams like they did last season, but left no doubt against a good Dover club on Saturday. 5 different Bulldogs scored in the 42-7 win, and now get to host the Little Green Friday night for a trip to the dance.

8. CHRIS COLLINSWORTH SAYING HE ONLY LEARNED ABOUT BOSTON ACCENTS FROM A DUCKBOAT TOUR IS THE MOST PREPOSTEROUS THING I’VE EVER HEARD

I think Collinsworth dropped this in the 3rd quarter last night? Either way, he told Al Michaels about dropping R’s like he had discovered time travel.  You could almost hear Al thinking to himself “This has gotta be a joke, right?”. I have so many questions:

  • Had Collinsworth legit never met anyone from New England before?
  • Had he not seen a TV show or movie set in Boston?
  • Are there other regional dialects that Collinsworth has yet to discover?

Thank goodness there isn’t a team in Toronto, I can see it now – “YOU KNOW AL, I DIDN’T REALIZE THIS UNTIL I WENT TO ZANZIBAR ON YONGE STREET, BUT THEY SAY ‘EH’ A LOT IN CANADA! IT’S JUST A THING THEY DO!”

7. ALL NICK LORDEN DOES IS CATCH TOUCHDOWNS

Nick Lorden is starting to make a name for himself as a UNH Wildcat. NH HS fans remember his days at BG, but now defensive coordinators in the CAA are starting to have Red Zone nightmares about Nick. Only 6 catches this season, but 4 for TD’s including 2 against Towson on Saturday. I’m starting to get disappointed when Nick DOESN’T score a TD at this point. The ‘Cats will need Lorden to keep it up when they visit defending National Champion James Madison this coming Saturday. Make sure you tune in on the radio!

6. IT HAD TO BE SNAKES

Last week we mentioned that Pelham had a chance to get to .500 if they beat West in the last game of the season. I was assuming that Pelham couldn’t get by Hollis-Brookline, but SHOWS WHAT I KNOW. Pelham has gone 3 straight games without allowing a point. Brett Lindsay picked off two passes and the Pythons got juuuuuuuuuuust enough offense to get a 6-0 win. I haven’t broken it down, but it looks like Pelham could get into the dance if Souhegan beats HB and Pelham takes care of business vs West. (This could be wrong. It’s probably wrong. I’m not a mathamagician or anything)

5. THUUUUUUUUUUUU YANKEES LOSE!

There is nothing, and I mean nothing quite seeing an evil force being stopped. When the Berlin Wall fell, we all wept with joy. When Hulk Hogan pinned the Iron Sheik, we all felt a sense of pride. When US forces captured Saddam Hussein, there were high fives for everyone.

It’s the same feeling when the Yankees lose. They are evil incarnate, and it gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside to see them blow a 3-2 lead. There are those that will try to say these are just the ramblings of a bitter Red Sox fan, but this is simply not the case. Watching evil falter is a joy in and of itself.

4. DEFENSE OPTIONAL IN A D3 BATTLE

Epping/Newmarket and Bishop Brady went toe to toe in a battle that seemed like it was more like an Arena League game than a D3 contest. 5 wins looks like it’ll be enough to get Epping/Newmarket into the tournament, Bishop Brady has some work to do. Have you ever seen a set of high score totals like we’ve seen in D3 this year? My offseason project is going to be to investigate that. (Wait, is there math involved? Hmmmm…..)

3. STONE COMPTON IS THE BEST NAME IN HS FOOTBALL THIS YEAR

STA player Stone Compton has a name that Network News anchors change their name to. As I said during the broadcast of STA’s win at Con-Val, if I had that name I’d already be the play by play voice of the New England Patriots.

Stone joins a great list of names from NH HS Sports like River Fish, Boo-Boo Glew (that was back in my day), Jackson Rivers, and more – I’m sure I’m missing some, leave your favorite names from NH HS Sports in the comments!

2. IT’S MY MISSION TO MEET DUKE DOG V

That’s the James Madison Bulldog mascot you may have seen Lee Corso scaring the hell out of on College Gameday a few weeks back. Well, with UNH traveling to JMU this weekend, and your boy traveling with them, it is now my mission to make a new best friend in Duke V. I will not rest until I can get a selfie with Duke, and when I put my mind to something, there’s about a 71% chance of it happening (Please don’t tell my dog Jodie about my plan, she’s very jealous).

1. FOUR DIVISIONS MAY BECOME A REALITY

The NHIAA Football committee has recommended, thankfully, to go to four divisions of play. I’m sure seeing the absolute drubbing some of the smaller teams are taking this season had something to do with that, and it’s the correct move.

There are those that have argued that getting beaten down 80-0 teaches you some sort of life lesson, and while, yes, life usually does kick your ass by 8 touchdowns once you’re an adult, High School sports are supposed to be about learning, and about FUN. How fun is it for Farmington-Nute this year, do you think?

Putting the smaller programs in one division together gives those schools a better chance of keeping a football program. In a world where football is on the decline, I’d like to see more schools playing. Having a fourth division may keep football alive for some programs.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: It can stay 74 degrees all winter, Kurt Angle returned to the ring, UNH needs to go at LEAST 1-1 on these two Virginia trips, Adults dressing up for Halloween is weird.
