The only Power Poll that matters is what's inside McIsaac's head

The Top 10 is brought to you by TJ’S in Portsmouth! My absolute favorite spot in Portsmouth to catch a game. Tell Bethany that McIsaac sent you.

Coach MacIntyre won the Bear Bryant award in 2016, but being in the Top 10 easily tops that

YEAH THAT’S RIGHT – You waited all Spring and Summer, and finally, the only reason for getting out of bed early in the week is back: Justin McIsaac’s Top 10!

10. I HAVE SEEN BIG TIME COLLEGE FOOTBALL FACILITIES, AND, SPOILER ALERT, THEY’RE PRETTY NICE

My UNH Tag Team partner, Bob Lipman, and I were lucky enough to get a red carpet tour of Colorado’s offices and facility from Head Coach Mike MacIntyre, before the Cats played the Buffaloes this past weekend. The Weightroom was immaculate. The players lounge was nicer than any place I’ve ever hung out. The coach’s office was bigger than my house. It’s a whooooooole different world in a Power 5 FBS conference, which I already knew, but knowing it and seeing it are two very different things. Shout out to Coach MacIntyer for being so gracious, and taking time the day before a game.

9. SPEAKING OF UNH, THEY LOOKED BETTER THIS WEEK

I know 45-14 isn’t going to make anyone thrilled to death, but the score is a little misleading. The defense played well in spurts against a really, really good CU offense. The offense is still sputtering, but moved the ball decently at times. If they play the way they did vs the Buffs against the rest of the CAA, they’ll be just fine, especially if Trevor Knight comes back from his AC joint injury. (Also that Christian Lupoli “fumble” was an incomplete pass, fight me)

8. THIS PATS GAME IS NOT FUN

It’s mid 3rd Q, Blake Bortles looks like John Elway, the Pats defense looks like it’s melting, and I’m about to start looking for breakable things to throw at my wall. I know the Pats usually have an early season stinker, and more often than not it’s in hot weather, but it doesn’t make it any more fun to watch.

7. THIS IS WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR WHEN WE WANTED A 4TH DIVISION

Franklin beat Farmington-Nute 38-21 Saturday. Not a great result if you’re F-N, but that’s an actual competitive game! The hardo portion of NH Sports media (that seemed to take delight in seeing small schools get the stuffing beat out of them) seemed to take it as a personal affront that there were some that thought “Wouldn’t it be better if some of these teams weren’t guaranteed a 50 point loss every week?”

It’s not about giving everyone a trophy, it’s about competing at the level you should be competing at. There’s no world where Farmington should play Campbell in football. This is more like it.

6. 17-7 FEELS LIKE THE MOST PINKERTON-EXETER SCORE POSSIBLE

Two teams that have long traditions of lining up and punching you in the mouth, an old school defensive battle was broken open when Aidan Goujon threw a 69 yard TD pass. Exeter isn’t used to being 1-2, and they will certainly bounce back, but this fistfight belonged to the Astros.

5. VONTAE DAVIS SAID (BLEEP) IT AND LEFT

I respect the hell out of this move. Halftime, playing for the Bills, getting your teeth kicked in again? No thanks, I got my money, I’m out . As someone who has completely mailed in every non media job I’ve ever had, I’m here for this.

4. HAVE A DAY JAYMESON MAHEUX

A 100 yard Pick 6, and 119 yards on the ground with 3 rushing TD’s in West’s 52-3 thrashing of Pembroke had to feel pretty good. West has been down as of late (they’re last win was against…. Pembroke, last year), but that’s quite a performance from young Jaymeson.

3. TIES TIES TIES TIES TIES TIES TIES TIES

GIVE ME TIES EVERY WEEK FOR ETERNITY! In what universe is it fair that Kirk Cousins threw for 425 yards, 4 TD’s, and ends up with a tie? IN THIS ONE! It’s the worst possible timeline we’re living in, so let’s all enjoy the awkwardness of ties as much as possible.

2. ANDREW ROBBINS OF BOW WILL PROBABLY GET CALLS FROM A FEW NFL TEAMS

I mean he probably won’t sign, since he’s a sophomore in High School, but he made a clutch field goal, and about 17 different kickers yesterday threw up all over their shoes. A 29 yarder with 3:03 to go gave Bow a 9-7 lead, and they would eventually beat John Stark 15-7. Having a decent FG kicker is a HUGE weapon in High School, and, as it turns out, in the pros as well. Andrew, I have the Minnesota Vikings GM on line 2….

1. I’M PUSHING MY CHIPS INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE – MANCHESTER CENTRAL IS MY PICK TO WIN D1

Yes, it takes a coward to wait until Week 3 to make your championship pick, BUT I AM THAT COWARD. Alex Hawkom is a genuine gunslinger, and the Little Green used three Dylan Feliciano INT’s to power past a very good Merrimack team on Friday night. Central can’t look past North before a showdown with Bedford coming up, but I’m going outside of the box and saying Central will be a (somewhat) surprise champ come November.

(If I’m wrong, I’m deleting all evidence of this column. As I said before, I’m a coward)

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Congrats to the NH Fisher Cats!, What the heck is a “leverage” penalty, Ralphie was everything I hoped she’d be, Fitzmagic dazzling the post game presser with DeSean Jackson’s outfit
