The only Power Poll that matters is what's inside McIsaac's head

YES, YES, YES!

YEAH THAT’S RIGHT – You waited all Spring and Summer, and finally, the only reason for getting out of bed early in the week is back: Justin McIsaac’s Top 10!

The Top 10 is brought to you by TJ’S in Portsmouth! My absolute favorite spot in Portsmouth to catch a game. Tell Bethany that McIsaac sent you.

10. OKLAHOMA LOVES THE TROOPS SO MUCH, THEY LET ARMY HOLD THE BALL FOR 44:41 SATURDAY NIGHT

Army had drives in the second half of 19 plays for 85 yards in 10:47 (that one ended up as a TD), and later started from their own 1 and held the ball for 10:06 over 17 plays (that drive ended up as an INT). It was almost a perfect offensive game plan, but OU was too much in the end, squeaking by 28-21 in OT. Army has nothing to be ashamed of though after that performance.

9. RETURN OF THE MACK

Pinkerton just has a choke hold on the Mack Plaque, having held on to it since 2000, back when dinosaurs and Nokia phones ruled the earth. The outcome was no different Friday night as the Astros beat back Londonderry 34-14, backed by over 400 yards rushing. The Astros had planned on throwing the ball vs Londonderry, but when the air attack wasn’t clicking, it’s good to be able to lean on perhaps the best rushing attack in the state. Pinkerton and Bedford seem like they’re on collision course at UNH at this point in the season.

8. THE SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SONG IS TRASH

GAME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN IT’S SUNDAY NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT….. Get right TF out of here with that. I’m sure Carrie Underwood is a nice person, but I don’t ever need to see her again on a Sunday night. The NBC theme song started off decent with Pink, and it’s been downhill since.

The Pink version feels a little grimy, a little “there’s a reasonable chance Pink was in a fistfight on the way to the recording session”. Give me some of THAT, not whatever the slickly produced crap we have now is.

7. HAVE A DAY ERIC FAIRWEATHER

The former Londonderry Lancer lead the St. Anselm’s College Hawks to their first win of the season, going 31 of 58 for 311 yards and 2 TD’s, and running for a score as well in the Hawks 29-21 win over AIC Saturday. Fairweather has already thown for 7 TD’s over 3 games for the Hawks, who travel to Southern Connecticut State next week.

6. BOY DID EXETER NEED THAT

A 10-6 win over Windham was just what the Blue Hawks needed heading into their Rivalry game with Winnacunnet this week-  the Hawks just couldn’t afford to play the Warriors with 3 losses. It still may be that Exeter misses the playoffs, but they’ve given themselves slightly more room for error with the W.

5. TIGER WOODS Y’ALL, TIGER WOODS Y’ALL, TIGERTIGERTIGERTIGERTIGERWOODS Y’ALL

HE’S BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! I usually don’t watch golf unless it’s a major or the Ryder Cup, but if Tiger’s in contention, count me in. Especially if it’s The Tour Championship, and someone accidently let a 1991 Metallica crowd onto the course. Tiger is great to watch because he has that rare combination of incredible greatness, combined with such personal flaws and obvious inner demons. He’s fascinating. I’d rather watch Tiger shoot 85 than a bunch of mannequins named “Brandt” or something hit holes in one all day.

4. IT’S THE 2ND QUARTER, THE PATS ARE DOWN 10-0, AND I’M NOT HAVING FUN

As I write this, the Pats look like they just landed about 45 minutes before the game, sleepwalking so far. I don’t doubt that they’ll be able to beat the Lions, but I’m not having a good time. Oh good, there’s another 3 and out! BRB, need to bash my head against something.

3. CAMPBELL MAKES A STATEMENT

I mean, not that they really needed to, but still. In one of those “It was close, and then it wasn’t”  games that you sometimes see, Keegan Mills scored 3 times, Cam Barrett scored twice, and Campbell asserted themselves as the best team in D3 with a . OR DID THEY…..

2. …… MONADNOCK WOULD LIKE A WORD

The Huskies beat D3 New Kids Trinity 18-13 for their best win of the season, and had to come back to do it. The Huslies raced out to a 10-0 lead, but watched the Pioneers rattle off 13 unanswered points before it was Tim Hart to the rescue with a TD run to seal the win. We’re gonna have to wait until 10/19 for the big grudge match between the Cougars and the Huskies, but it should be a slobberknocker.

1. GAME OF THE YEAR?

St. Thomas and Milford, just throwing haymakers at each other all night. One of the cool things about HS Football is how schools develop personalities, especially on offense, over the years. Milford is traditionally known as a grind-it-out running team, while the Saints have been known as a spread-it-out, air raid / trick play-palooza team for a long time, so on paper it’s a fun lash of styles. In this one, Shawn DeKorne was a beast, running for 3 TD’s and throwing for another, and Nick Tosatti’s INT sealed it to get the Saints to 4-0. D2, as usual, is wide open, so every one of these W’s count, and STA already has 3 road wins on their resume, and a HUGE home game with Plymouth awaits.

ALSO RECEIVING VOTES: Red Sox are quietly division champs, Bow has ripped off 3 straight wins, ‘Squam with a big win, RIP Jimmy G’s ACL
