It was a crazy quarterfinal matchup between #3 Bedford & #6 Concord on Sunday night. The game started scoreless as a couple of Bedford shots were saved by Kelley Mikelson & one shot hit the top bar.
While the rain continued to pour, the offense started to pour on points. Bedford had a goal that was initially awarded reversed after a discussion. Then Lana Morris made sure that Bedford would lead with a strike only minutes later.
Whitney Valliant found the answer for Concord on a tremendous shot from 35 yards out. The game would only remain tied for about a minute as Anna Diaz ripped a shot into the back of the net. The play of the game however belongs to Bedford goalie Callie Spittle, who saved not one, not two, but four shots in under a minute including two PK attempts.
Following that sequence, freshman Claudia 'CC' Erwin buried an insurance goal for the Bulldogs & Bedford soared into the final four of a 3-1 home victory!
The Bulldogs advance back to the Final Four where they will take on Portsmouth for the second straight season.
