There are a lot of new faces on the defending champion Bishop Guertin Cardinals–all of them actually. It’s a rebuild season for the Cards after their core and head coach went out on top of Division-I a year ago.The growing pains are evident, but also expected and welcomed.

 The Londonderry Lancers were battle-hardened, coming off a 64-62 win against a highly-touted Portsmouth team. They know what it means to bring your A-game from the opening tip.

 Exploding to an early 11-point lead, the Lancers were ready to coast to victory. The dynamic Lancer trio of Sammie Sullivan, Gemma Murray, and Brooke Eacrett, raced to seen who could be the first to ten points. \

 They were clicking throughout the contest, and made it easy
to see how this team with the most difficult schedule before winter break still stands undefeated.

 Murray notched a new season-high of 18 points, while Sullivan had rung up 20 for her second- straight game.

 For the Cardinals, Maggie Gallagher and Thalia Drapeau lead the team in scoring, but it was Gianna Pezzetti who became a sparkplug in the second half. The Senior, Pezzetti impressed on both ends of the court with smart passing, quick steals.

 The second half showed bursts of greatness from the defending champ’s new roster. They outscored the Lancers in the third and fourth quarters. Although they are not the Cardinals of the previous two years, they are not to be taken lightly.
