What was bouncing around in McIsaac's head this week?

We're on to Houston

“Wait a minute, I thought we only got a Top 10 during Football season?” Well it’s your lucky day, boys and girls – Justin McIsaac is back with the Top 10 things that bounced around in his head this week…

10. RADIO RED ALERT

Dave Haley calls me a lot during the week. Sometimes it’s to talk over High School Hoops, other times it’s because someone in one of his college basketball pools has committed a minor faux pas that I don’t understand, but it’s enough of an infraction that Dave needs to yell about it for 12 straight minutes. What hadn’t happened, until Friday, was Dave calling to say “Hey, ESPN NH told us we can’t do our show tomorrow, can we hook up MOSN to handle it?”

Luckily your boy over here is cool under pressure, and the show (aside from some buzzing early on) came off without a hitch. You can hear the NH HS Hoop Show right here on NH Sportspage.com for the foreseeable future.

9. SOMEONE FINALLY GAVE PORTSMOUTH A GAME

Bedford put a scare into Portsmouth, leading the undefeated ’86 Celti… I mean Clippers, in the 3rd Quarter, but as I stated last week in the Top 10, ain’t nobody beating Portsmouth this year. Mark Elmendorf has the Bulldogs playing well though, they’re going to be right there at the end.

8. MILFORD STAYS UNBEATEN

Behind 20 points from (checks spelling) (checks spelling again) Ryan Banuskevich, the Spartans held off a very game TImberlane Owls team to stay unblemished in D2. It’s about to get bumpy for Milford though, as they go to Bishop Brady, host West, and go to HB over the next 4 games.

7. THE “OTHER RED RAIDERS” WIN A BIG ONE

Belmont got a huge W over Campbell, and if the playoffs started today, they’d have a Top 4 seed in D3. D3 is the most wide open division of the 4 this season, aside from Kearsarge I don’t think there’s a true favorite. Your Top 4 seeds if the tourney began today would be (not in order), Belmont, Hopkinton, Somersworth, and Interlakes. It’s gonna be a fun D3 tourney.

6. GROVETON SQUEAKS BY

2-4 Wilton Lyndeborough didn’t seem like they’d give Groveton a huge test on Friday, but THAT’S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES! W/L gave the Eagles everything they could handle despite falling 58-55. Groveton is 9-0 and they’ve got a gigantic matchup @ Littleton looming on NHSportspage this coming Friday.

5. ALTERNATE FACTS

Senior Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway came up with the phrase of 2017 – “Alternate facts”. I’m a huge fan of Alternate Facts, in fact, here’s some of my Alternate Facts:

  • Spaulding has won the last 8 D1 Championships
  • Uma Thurman used to send me love letters in the 90’s
  • As a star player for Spaulding in high school, I averaged a triple double
  • Pizza and Beer are actually superfoods that help you lose weight

4.  EXETER GETS A BUZZER BEATER FOR A GIGANTIC W

Steve Natola keep the Blue Hawk’s winning streak going with a 3 at the horn over Merrimack.  The Blue Hawks haven’t slipped up since an opening night trip to Rochester, winning 6 straight. It isn’t going to be an easy next few weeks for the Hawks though, as they face 5 straight teams that currently have a winning record, including a big rivalry game vs Winnacunnet that can be heard on MOSN Friday (We’ll have coverage of both the Girls and Boys games on both MOSN and NHSportspage).

3. HOLLIS BROOKLINE WITH A STATEMENT WIN

Lebanon hadn’t lost a regular season game since 2015 (go ahead and travel back to 2015 and tell yourself what the current state of the world is in 2017, and see what your reaction is, BTW. That would be fun). The HB Cavs grabbed a nice win over Keith Matte & Company (still without KJ Matte). Both teams figure to be around in the end, but having a W in your pocket can be a psychological boost sometimes.

2. WHERE IS ROG-ER?

When Roger Clemens got his ass handed to him in Game 3 of the 1999 ALCS, that was the chant that broke out in Fenway Park – who knew that 18 years later, the New England Patriot fans would be openly taunting the Commissioner of the NFL with the same chant? Roger Goodell, the crooked, incompetent buffoon that he is, probably won’t have the stones to show up in Houston. Speaking of which….

1. GUYS, THIS REALLY IS THE GOLDEN AGE

This will be the 9th time I’ll get to see the New England Patriots play in the Super Bowl, and until I was 23, they were stuck on 2 and figured to be for the next 20 years. In January of 1986, a young Justin McIsaac cried as he watch the ’85 Bears make mincemeat of Raymond Berry’s Pats (I owned both a “Squish the Fish” and a “Berry the Bears” shirt as an 8 year old). In January of 1997 I watch Bill Parcells phone it in against a great, but beatable, Packers team, only to see Parcells leave for the AAA New York Jets that he had been flirting with all week. So allow me to tell you youngins, ENJOY THIS WHILE YOU CAN. You’re witnessing history every year, and once Brady and Belichick leave it’s all over baby. Pats by a million over the Falcons.

ALSO RECIVING VOTES: Wild Zebra sightings in Exeter, My Red Raiders get back on track, Sam Bonney-Liles will be D1 COTY in 10 years, Seriously though SEVEN SUPERBOWLS for Brady and Belichick
